Spaceball Gear Surround Removal

Hi, I've just binned off The Moneypit V70 and have replaced it with a slightly newer S60. I'm wanting to refit my GROM kit into it, but its got the spaceball gearstick, whereas previous installs were in bog standard manual or geartronic Volvo's... Before I break something, could anyone tell me if the Spaceball gear surround just pops off like the rest of them do on the facelifted models?

(ie, lift the bit nearest the twin cup holders first etc)

Nah it's good, you can actually feel your selecting a gear, instead of just a sponge box

Thanks Alastair, that's what I thought it'd need doing, but I wanted to check before I cracked on and broke something ;)

I've got to say, I'm really impressed by the spaceball, much better than my last manual S60's gearbox - it felt like stirring a bag of wool!
