Quick vac question

The vac line that rins from intake manifold to fan sensor thingy.
Do i need this white soucer part or will a simple vac hose do the job?

It is a valve and has it own porpose as far as I know.

If I am looking at the right part, the one clipped to the fan shroud, then that is a one way valve for the brake servo vac supply. Yes you need that ;)
