Need 2 new fronts.

I was set on the Avon ZV5's but thought id ask on here, see if there are any other opinions.

Currently have 2 Avon ZV3's on the front clue to the limit, seem pretty decent even now, avons the best bet?

I have avons on my s70r and they are a pretty good allweather tyre for the price. I have continental contisports thingys on my bmw and they seem very good, but i doubt i will get them again as i'd imagine they are very expenisive. lol

Depends how much you wanna spend.

do i need to worry about speed / load rating at all?

Goodyear Eagle f1's i had on my Auto t5, there were a very good all rounda.

Speed load rating should be at least V rated with xl extra load.

Yes. If you were to fit some tyres that didn't have a high enough speed or load rating and were to have an accident, then (if they checked the tyres) the insurance company wouldn't have to pay out.

But its always best to have good tyres anyway, they are the bit thats in contact with the road after all.

Ok, Il call the tyre place tomorrow and see what they have, would i need a VWY or Z speed rating? Load i assume is 94?

As long as the speed rating is V or higher they should be fine. I think the avons on my volvo are load rating 88W.

Double check though that V is ok, as i think its around 140mph.

If you have an 'off' at 140, I think the insurance not paying out will be the least of your worries. Lol. :D

Oh, And I've got Potenza's on the front of mine. They give loads of road noise which is very annoying.

Extra load would be preferable if you want to reduce sidewall flex under cornering, especially if you do a lot of corning especially at speed.

I've got the Yokohama Parada spec 2's with the higher sidewall load rating and I really rate them as a tyre :)

The Falken F452 I have did very well last year - lasted about 9K miles which included 2 track days & some drage racing too. Grip levels are generally very good & they are VFM - 225/45/r17 cost me 85 quid a corner balanced & fitted.

I have not found a tyre that will do much more than this. Previously I swore by Vredestein Utlracs but the prices went really silly.

I have also heard good things about them.

They are really good - Mine was a snarling beast with a poker up it's bum in the wet before them, now it's mostly driveable even on very wet greasy cold Scottish B roads.

Thanks for the recommendations, i asked about the contis but they wanted a fortune for them, so i stuck with the Avon ZV5's, made a nice difference, no juddering anymore (thought it was the balancing, but i had that checked!)

Toyo Proxes PX4, gave me the same performance in the wet as the dry.
Very low road noise and good wearing.
About £80 each from camskill

I've just gone over to Avon ZV5 (225x45x17) and I couldn't believe the difference! only a tenner more than the barums too :)

Probably going to splash the cash on a pair of cut road slicks. R888s are too expensive. Quite fancy the Yoko's

Is there really that much of a difference? I was thinking about some barums for the beemer because they seem a decent price, the avons are about £25 more.

Yes mate. They ride quieter with more grip and less vibration through the steering wheel. Don't get me wrong, the Barums are good all rounders but for the extra tenner (95 quid a corner, fitted and balanced from Hi-Q) I'd have the Avons all day long. Have you shopped around much? I can't see yours being that much different, price wise, than mine.

My slicks are too hard to work on the drag strip. I think one of these will be a good bet,. Perhaps if another track day comes up i will pick up a rear pair?
