my t5 as been like this for over a year now as i start it up revs go high then come down slow also when out and about does this when change up and down the gears as anyone ad or come across with your volvo in the past

idle controle valve mate, I unpluged mine for months and it ran great.

Mynes done it since i got it, im sure the revs should be faster from cold starts but i get what you mean between gear changes its like the revs stick a little

I ran mine with it unpluged for about 8 months, and only replaced the ICV when I fitted the supercharger.

EDIT: the ecu will take a few miles to learn.

still check for a vac leak..mine did that for ages till i found a small pin hole in the small pipe from turbo to my MBC plus had a small leak on the inlet pipe just after the air flow meter
