I have just noticed a small hole in my outer sill, problem is I have my MOT tomorrow so no chance of sorting it before then!

I'ts about 2" diameter (after I dug about to see how bad it was), but its only in the outer sill, I have poked around and the rest of it is solid.
I'll try to go and get a pic.

Just really worried I'm gonna be throwing away the cost of an mot!!

Any opinions greatly appreciated!

ususally corrosion within a 30cm radius of any major components, unless rules have changed..

Still the same rule

I'd still get it tested, most MOT offer a few day before you have to pay for a retest

its right at the back of the sill, where the arch trim bolts onto the sill

Not a very clear pic,
but it is about a few inches forward from the rear arch, basically right next to the rear jacking point

It will fail if its near a jacking point iirc,

a couple of updated pictures I took today:

I took the car over to my local exhaust place first thing this morning and asked if they would have a look. (had a lot of exhaust work done recently, so getting to know the guys pretty well now).

They started to grind the hole back to what appeared to be clean metal, but the hole just kept growing.
So we decided to just find enough metal to enable a patch to 'hold', then just lather it in underseal.

The good news is it worked, (with only an advisory for having my daughters child seat fitted)

The bad news is where the arch trim has been flapping around it has started pulling itself off the arch, with the paint still on it!
so I now have what appears to be a constantly growing hole in the outer sill and an arch that needs respraying too!

(think I'll be in the market for another v40 soon, unless the bodyshop is having a 90% off sale lol)

Thanks for all of the advice - Its very much appreciated!!
