View Full Version : Lumpy idle on a P2 V70 T5.....serious?

Hi guys....

Went to see a p2 manual v70 t5 today.....I have had 2 of these before without issue for the most part.

This car is straight and true and the owner is a sound bloke. The oil pump let go on him 2 years ago on the motorway so he paid over £2500(invoice to prove) for a replacement 45k engine.

It sounds and runs great BUT.....

Idle is lumpy when warm....hunts like it wants to stall.....and if you rev it whilst stationary when the revs drop down they don't settle, they fall to 5-600rpm and then pickup after a stutter to normal idle.

Is it a knackered air mass sensor or something more dodgy......its a fairly common issue on most cars at some point. Would like some advice though as to avoid the car or not...

Thanks
Alex

if in doubt walk away. ask the seller if hed be willing to get the codes read. guess it all comes down to how much he wants to sell it and how genuine he his

Without giving the game away it has a day left to go and is sub £1k......all means nothing though as if its a compression issue then its scrap
