More to do with boost levels and mapping on these sized turbos, you can do the rods with a 15g if theres too much boost to soon and with good mapping you can run a 19t on standard rods (up to a certain amount of power/torque).

Wobbly dave was running his c70 with a 19t on standard rods and i think andysR is also running standard rods. (as well as a quite a few others)
Both quick cars.

so mapping essential? as i was hoping that i could change the turbo and exhaust run the standard t5r ecu until such a time as an upgrade,as when i add up all the things that needed to see her back on the road its getting scary, lol tho over a period of time adding seems a lot more realistic,

martybelfastt5

just the one listed for the 850 on the tt website

I can't see why you couldn't use the TT 15G/T28 hybrid with the standard map to start with, it's a good turbo... ;)

that turbo is a t28 hybrid mate not a bad turbo and very slightly bigger than a 19t .u will need whites or blues injectors though for that turbo.u can run on standard ecu but for the sake of 150 pounds u could get a hlm remap that would be alot better even better get 1 for a 19t .but when u have fitted all of this get the car on the rollors asap mate to check fueling and boost

seems to be a popular turbo, so what flange and air ratio would be right for the 850???

BlackBeast
Monday 30th January 2012, 23:35
T3 and .63a/r housing would be the one to go for. If you are going this route, get ready to spend £1k on the turbo alone.

My GT3071R (which is bigger) has a T25 flange, with an adaptor, and it doesn't foul the bulkhead.

My adaptor is about 10mm thick.

If you go external, you will have to make a new manifold.

My GT3071R (which is bigger) has a T25 flange.

Why did you not buy a T3 exhaust housing? That's like using 6pot brake calipers with 280mm discs.

martybelfastt5
Tuesday 31st January 2012, 18:02
ive found some turbos locally used at good money which are t23 flanged for 200sx ect that would be my reason, that dosent restrict or anything?

Why did you not buy a T3 exhaust housing? That's like using 6pot brake calipers with 280mm discs.

Because, at the time Owen's didn't have any T3 flanged housings, and they weren't expecting any for about 6-8 months

They offered me a deal on this one instead, its been ported, blades cut back and has a metal bearing cage.

It's a direct fit replacement, no modifications to the car required at all ;)

They never do have any T3 housings for the 3071 cause Garrett don't make one, if they did have one it would have been from ATP. Metal bearing cage is a must.

18t uses standard downpipe mate 19t uses me7 downpipe 3in downpipe .thats the reason why the 18t demands a price premium when selling them.

That will be the reason why :)

I wasn't told that bit, they said they could supply a T3 flange.

The metal cage was one thing I made sure it was going to have, I couldn't believe that they came with a plastic cage.
