I think that might require a dealer visit.

Did you have the battery still connected when you took the centre console out? If so, (and as per the other thread), get thee to a Volvo dealer or possibly a competent Volvo specialist if there's one near.

Aye. I've heard that the obd11 is not related to srs probs thought I could wire the bosch diagnostics code reader on it. !

Don't think that'll fix it.

I assume your location is Oban?

If you're near Edinburgh anytime soon I can try to clear the codes with my DiCE unit.

Sounds good to me. Will try and get down before end of feb' mot is due then and I've heard new regs state NO airbag warning lights or your fail!

Cheers...

This happened on my R when I did some work behind the dials. It can only be cleared by the dealer I`m afraid.Around £50 it cost me.

I dont think so.My son is a volvo trained techie and he couldnt do anything with it when I got that message. You could always wait for the car to go in to Volvo for some work.In that case they are obliged to clear the message for you as it is an errant display.

It takes 1 minute. They`ll do it while you wait normally.I usually only use dealers for parts but every now and then you have no choice.

DiCE will work - it IS the dealer hardware/software....

This method only removes the "time for regular service" message.

BUT... if you tell the mot blokey that there is an error with your DIM and the info screen conks out from time to time, they should know that the SRS warning is another symptom of the DIM failing ;)
Mine went through 2 MOTs with the warning and triangle:)

Unfortunatly from Jan 1 this year, that won't work, It's now a failure if the lights stay on, wether it's a dimm fault or not.

Oh dear! My srs service light is due to come on in 2013 as it's actually due, rather than just a fault :( how annoying!

Find a volvo indy near you. It shouldnt cost £50 to get it cleared. I get all mine done at my local indy, hes never charged me for clearing codes etc etc, but then again I spend a few bob there, so fairs fair.

Volvo is or was £25 to clear codes.

For future reference you MUST disconnect the battery before unplugging anything behind the dash. The SRS light comes on for fun other wise.

Right booked into taggart's glasgow for friday 17th february. had to book a half hour appointment for the 'srs airbag service urgent' light to be taken off.

ive also booked another half hour appointment to hopefully get a software upgrade to get my new heated seats working. im hoping that i can just take the heated seat buttons with me and it's just a case of plugging them in and getting the software installed....;-)

£49 for each half hour appointment.!

Takes the p*ss doesn't it!

Not so much the hourly rate as the fact it takes them half an hour to do ANYTHING...

Hi Yosser,
I have read that you have the Volvo Vida Dice. I am in Edinburgh and having a problem with the airbags light. I would like know if have any chance to help me with this?

Many thanks in advance.

Thomas

Me too. I just changed my window lifter - had to put the ignition on at one point to move the arms to the right position and when I got back in the car I have the message.

Might just be a coincidence but after I pulled the old lifter I have no backlight for the radio, no fog lights and high beam won't stay on.

I'm in Edinburgh too so if you're available that would be great. Ruined my afternoon after being pleased to have a functioning window again!

You'll get that message if the seat belt buckle sensor is unplugged - sometimes a bad connector will cause this when you move the seat front/back. The VIDA/DiCE (whether friend or dealer) will fix it. Ensure the connector is snug before you reset it so the message doesn't just come back.

I would look at the belt latch connector first, as you mentioned you had the center console out.

If you pull some of the dashboard related plugs/cables then it can throw an Airbag light or "service required" message. Vida will clear it providing it's not a 'permanent fault', i.e. a faulty module, broken wire etc.
