Spotted this today browsing the web, I didnt even know any 850's were ever registered on an "S" plate. Must have been old never registered stock?

Could this be the last ever production 850R?

i assume its the same car, was owned by a chap off VOC. Said Volvo used to use it as a show car, all the owners manuals he'd got with it were in Swedish so guess it was specially imported. Sure his name was Simon Linton

My old 850 T5 was a 1997 P and must have been the last of the Mohicans because I once found myself parked next to a V70 with about 3 numbers away from the registration from same dealership. But this, can't work it out.

There's only 6months between my 850 and V70 and they were both sold in 1997.

I do remember a K reg mark two Fors Orion(MK4 escort shape).

He went from that to a Mini... :rolleyes2

Pretty sure it came out of the head office in Sweden as it was on show and then was sold to him on the S plate.

Been doing a little more digging on it. I cant seem to find any information relating to its curent "status", everything points towards it being off the road now, which I think you'll agree is a shame. Its certainly not registered with that plate anymore? Perhaps its boasting a private reg now. If not I think that we will have to assume the latest registered 850 in the UK (unless someone finds a T reg!) is now a can of coke!!!

MyCarCheck still has it registered as an 854.

even tho i couldn't stand Mr Linton i will give him credit for how clean his immaculate his car was, so i can't see it being crushed inless its been in an accident

If I can remember correctly the car was sold to someone in Ireland, then appeared not too long after that for sale advertised in the UK. If it's difficult to trace, it could still have an Irish plate? When sold, the car had amongst other things an AP big brake kit, 3" Feritta downpipe and cat back and an MTE remap. Alastair, I can remember when you went out for a passenger ride in the car....

Yeah that's right car was owned by Simon Linton, I am sure it's a 1996 MY saloon, it's a manual has a 140 mph speedo and has unleaded fuel only written on the fuel gauge like the American market cars have. It was registered here in the UK late because it sat around as a show vehicle for Volvo but was sold on after the 850 ceased production. Simon sold it in 2008 and at the time my brother was very interested, was just before he found the S70. He missed out on it because a guy from Ireland got first refusal as he had enquired about the car 1st. The guy from Ireland re. registered it so now on Irish plates but after about 2 months decided to sell it and offered it to my brother for more than he paid and also added to the value of the car the cost of the Irish registration and journey costs, no good to him as he lives in the UK. Not sure what happened to the car after the Irish owner, Mark, sold it but I am guessing it stayed in Ireland...

In addition to what IC mentions I think Simon had IPD bars and possibly FSD's fitted as well...althought I can't be 100 % on that.

If it's been registered in Ireland, Would it not come back over here on plates that are respective to it's age, Rather than back on an S?

No because it's original date of 1st registration was 1998 ;)
