Anybody know how to fix this?

My heater will only blow up at screen and through dash vents, not down to footwell.

Dashboard knob turns freely.

You can crawl down and poke a screwdriver into the vent in the footwell on the drivers side which will manually flip a paddle thing, but after a minute it flaps back again.

Ideas?

Cheers

Sounds like the servo motor to flap connector had broken. The servo motor that controls the screen/floor direction is located on the drivers side of the heater box accessed by removing the kick panel on that side of the centre consul and standing on your head under the steering wheel. There is a square drive spindle coming out of the motor which connects to the square drive spindle on the flap via a plastic coupling. This can split and disconnect the servo motor, the weight of the flap means that it defaults to the 'screen' position.

Easy fix except for the access. Take the servo motor off (3 star drive screws) and super glue the coupling back together, re-enforce with duct tape and reassemble.

Did mine about 8 years ago and so far so good!!

Diagnosis was spot on!
Took a couple of photos to show.
Removed damper motor, plastic shaft was split, glued clamped and taped.
An easy repair.
Top screw is a little tricky, and you have to stand on your head!
