So with a bit of cash and the desicion not to fall into My midlife crisis just yet I'm going shopping for uprated and lighter internals, but as always I'm being lazy, so over to you to suggest suppliers/websites/prices of parts. At present I'm only working on the engine/gearbox first. I'll worry about turbo/exhaust/chassis braces/ECU/seats...etc... But you get my drift..

So engine first and Here's my provisional shopping list Jan 2012:

Camshafts - pipercams £262
Pistons - WiseCo 850 kit £500(Pistonheads)
Rods - THS £400
Crank pulleys - ARDs
Gaskets - Volvo Originals
Camshaft pulleys -....... still needed....
Crank - ??? any advice why I need to source a 2002 and not cut original

Flywheel - TTV Lightweight £500/super lightweight
Differential - Quaffe or Gripper

LATER ITEMS:
Injectors - 470cc VXR
ECU - Turbo tuner/ choice later
Intercooler - Choice Later
Turbo - Choice later
Exhaust manifold - Later Custom(but could do with some suggestions)

Please add bits that I may have missed.

Plan is to port and polish the head myself.
Crank/flywheel/pulleys to be bladed and balanced according to advice received.

To Add, Uprated Fuel pump, VXR 470cc injectors, Larger IC, Oil Cooler, S60R water pump, Water injection.

I run standard T5 Cams & pulleys, OS 1 pistons from Volvo, China Rods (Don or THS, I think Don supply's the rods with the correct Bolts?, I got my Flywheel from Don As well.
Diff Gripper has now changed hands and the old Gripper is now noisy as hell and knocks and bangs like mad, But works amazingly well, your other option is Quaff diff silent and you will never know its in there until you get on a track, All my gaskets are Genuine Volvo ones!

I only run a hybrid 16T and have 318 BHP & 328 Torqs
Turbo choice is up to you and is relevant to injector size!

Thanks for the speedy replies. I'll power up the laptop and tidy up the choices later.
I was planning on stripping the engine today, then realised that I don't have a spring compressor..

Pedro - BHP wise I don't actually know what to aim for..1000??? Lol.

Pedro - Why advise on a 2002 crank?

I'm planning on an engineering shop cutting one down, but is a 2002 one better for any reason?

OK - Who knows how to measure the splines on a gearbox. Demon tweeks have some wierd numbers for multiple plate clutches..???

Thanks Dave, I've also got two of most things...engines/gearboxes/turbos to play with.
I was jsut wondering if there was an accepted method for measuring the input shaft... diameter/no of splines..

Is the diameter the inner diameter or outer diamater? I'll do a trial and error, but it could be a very expensive one.

Any amatuers spilt a gearbox before???

I helped a mate build his dogleg rover 220 coupe gearbox once, but I'm not sure if the M56 is any more complicated??
