Quick question what's should be the voltage output from an alternator?
My V40 is reading 14.3v and I was under the impression that it should be 14.9??

I may be wrong but it will depend on where you measure it and how accurate your VM is. The reading can also be affected by how good the earth/live connection is throughout the car.
It seems healthy enough though but I may be wrong.....

Measurement was direct across the battery whilst running.
Multimeter is one I use at work as is calibrated.

There's a number of factors involved but tbh 14.3 volts sounds good to me. How did the voltage variey under full electrical load i.e hrw, interior fan, h/lamp main beam all switched on?

The reading should between 13.2 and 15.4 volts. Check with a load on i.e lights and HRW
