Does anyone fancy a day @ Castle Combe on Sat 10th Sept?

It's a kind of RWYB. A few friends are going and they've persueded me to take my V70 along too. Aparently this track lends it'self to fast powerfull cars as there aren't that many sharp twisty corners, and there are 2 or 3 nice long straights to play with.

Here's some info i lifted from the castle combe website;

"SATURDAY 10TH - SUMMER ACTION DAY, run in conjunction with the Golf Plus Magazine.

Here is another opportunity to drive your road legal car on the 1.85 mile Castle Combe Circuit. Track passes should be pre-booked to avoid queuing and disappointment on the day.

9am-5pm

Admission - Adult £10, OAP £5, Track Passes £30"

Anyone fancy meeting up for a bit of a chuckle? :rally_dri

Been to Castle Combe many times. It's a really nice track.

I have quite a bit of footage of the track I took with my digital camera, including a full lap from inside my friend's 300bhp Lancia Integrale if anyone wants me to upload it?

Easy access from the M4.

Sounds good!

It'll give me an idea of what to expect when i get there!

Cheers

Just been looking at some of the clips I shot, and I seem to have lost the complete lap one :splat: All I have are a few shaky in-car shots, and some footage from the side of the track.

Good for entertainment but not necessarily what you need in order to study the track.

Here is a complete lap (and a bit) from a steady camera aboard a Caterham, enjoy:

It's the one at the bottom of the list.

Any idea of the price to get on the track? I take it it will be an open pit?

That's a tenner to watch, or £30 to race. Not sure about the open pit bit.

So is anyone interested? We could book a slot so that we are all garunteed to run at the same time which would make things more interesting?

Well I wouldn't run (obviously) but if we have any interest then I'll go to cheer folk on and that (where is Castle coomb btw?)

I've been to loads of CC track days as I used to live nearby.

Couple of points, but bear in mind that this was a couple of years ago and so could have changed:

You may freely walk around the pit/queue area as long as you don't obstruct vehicles/staff in any way.

You MUST have your arms and legs covered up, helmets must be worn and can be hired when you get there. It's amazing how many drivers I would see rushing around trying to borrow a long sleeve T-shirt off someone :remybussi .

There is a petrol station just up the road (if you come from the M4 you will pass it so take note)

Like I said though, these details may have changed since I was last there.

No probs. I would also like to go, but just to watch as I would need more practice with the T5.

Hopefully I will have a T5 within the next couple of weeks if I find one that I want.

Part of me wants to jump up and down shouting "Me! Me! Me! Can I come! Can i? Can I?"
but I think I may give it a miss having inflicted enough damage on the C70 for a bit.

I used to live 5 miles away when I was a Kid and went to many race days there, also learnt to drive as a member of the under 17 car club round the circuit, so would love to go, but probably only to cheer on tho, at this time.

its a nice track at castle coombe, been up there a few times., just got to watch the wall at the grandstand end, seen a few cars get excited there and lose it, ouch!

£30 sounds very very cheap for a full open pit track day mind you??

I've just spoken to one of my friends that I'm going with, and he says it's limited laps, something like 5 or 6. The full blown trackdays are more expensive!

yes thats more like it. open pit full day would be around £150 approx i would imagine... though you cant really go wrong for £30 for 5 or 6 laps can you! :D
