Hi everybody, after lurking around the old forum since February (without posting) and then finding this new replacement on my return from a week's holiday I thought I had better say hi and put my membership on an official footing ;)
Thanks for the welcome e-mail Justin, it certainly gives the forum a very personal touch and was sufficient reason for me to finally write this and introduce myself :)
I live in Halesowen, West Midlands, just down the road from Justin and am the proud owner of a late '98 V70 T5 Estate, dark green, with RICA upgrade. She's due to go in to VT next Tuesday for a full lowered suspension package upgrade as with 127k on the clock the original stuff is a little tired :)
Better stop now before you all get bored with reading, so anyway, Hi to you all :)

hi Duane, yes I reckon the meets are a great idea, I've watched over the last few months and wished I'd been free on the days they occurred. Mind you, I can give most of the members here 20 years or so (judging by the group photo that appeared a few weeks ago) and I've wondered whether you'd want an old f**t hanging about the place (although I don't dribble or smell of anything untoward) ;)
@Justin
Great idea to meet up and fear not you have absolutely nothing to worry about ;)
Guy
<thinks> must get a sig sorted out if I can work out how to do it </thinks>

Hi Lance, they're a fabulous car and the RICA upgrade is definitely the icing on the cake. I bought mine in February and have never regretted it ... even when the turbo packed up along with the throttle module :( big bill that was .... soon to be followed by another big bill :D Dunno where I'd be without VT on the doorstep ;)
I shall definitely get along to one of the meets soon, maybe see you there :)

Hi GuyT5
Welcome to the forum :D
I wouldn't worry too much about the age thing.....most of them are younger than me too :( we all have a good laugh (& extremely good taste in automobiles ;) )
Hope to see you at one of the meets soon

Thanks MissdMeanor, having watched your patience in finding the 'right' car I also look forward to seeing you and yours ... I bought the first one we looked at, I do respond so well to being told what to do ... or so my lady wife tells me ;) Fingers crossed for the 19th ... it has been confirmed by the one who matters :)

I am sure you don't smell of wee and are in fact a good sort. At least I can commend you on the choice of car.

Oh so it's like that then eh J?? Talk to the hand :p
I am only a little bit scary.
Mind you I have been known to approach unknowing t5 owners to ask them silly questions about there cars. Like tonight I went for a blast down to Selly Oak and the Tesco's there. As I moved out to return home - I noticed a guy with his new 04 plate S60 T5 (maroon colour). Thought "that's nice" - was about to stop and ask only to realise that he was filing his car with nasty tesco ****e. So young to be getting that kind of abuse. Where does it read in the manual - fill your performance car with ninety-something bollox unleaded from Tesco??!? Not wasting a Volvo forums sticker on him.
So as you can see I am from Birmingham and not in the least bit weird.
despite what the others might say :)
Welcome to VT5. I should hope to see you around Brum!

Spoke to J and left a message for Dave. I hope that they make it. J only lives a wee distance from Jnc 2 M5 - which is near you.
Bear in mind my RICA/Turbo combo is not fantastic at the mo - so it will be difficult to show you her at her best :(
But still she sounds fabulous.
