Transmission oil

On the book for my S60, they(Volvo) state to ONLY get the trans oil from them?

Now, have any of you guys found a good aftermarket oil for your trans? Or infact can you safely use an aftermarket oil?

i researched this and it seems volvo are very cagey about the exact formulation - in the end i bit the bullet and bought the volvo stuff.

VT or someone may know of a suitable (cheaper) alternative, but i went with the factory reccomendation for "safety"
