I'd like to see the same run but with a Quaife fitted to the V50 then I think it would be a slightly different outcome ;)

Horses for courses.... I'd still take the V50 :)

i used to have a wrx ra lightweight, close ratio box, it was super rapid topped out at 120 or so but acceleration was awesome

I worked for Subaru between 2000 and 2002, including a few visits to Prodrive in Banbury for PPP's and I am afraid working with the Subaru brand put me off them some what. That said I am sure the later cars are better, just a shame they are butt ugly..

Ha Ha okies... I saw it by pure chance when I was looking through the other ones I thought I gotta post that up!!

Subaru awesome cross country but I think the Volvo is a better all-rounder especially when the suspension is sorted.

Stopping to pick the cylinders up from the motorway really slows you down :) he he

LOL, as if anyone would drive like that anyway, especially those two cars. I can't remember ever having to go around a corner on a public road with all tyres screaming away. The only other place you would be in that situation is on a track and TBH who would take those two cars instead of a car more suited to trackdays or one that has been modded/weekend toy?

They didn't test anything else like comfort, load space, economy, build quality, etc (unless the vid was cut short).

Once again a pointless review from 5th Gear, reminds me of when they did a Fiat Panda vs a Ferrari on a go kart track thinking the Fiat would be good as its small and nimble, and the Ferrari still won (only by a few seconds). Then they went on to say that at least the Panda would be able to keep up with the Ferrari in the twisties.....

To be honest I'd rather an engine with an uneven number of cylinders that sounds like it's running evenly any day over a car with an even number that sounds like it's running odd ;)
