It would seem that finally someone up in the clouds has realised what the 850R's and T5-R's are selling for.

I just did two valuations:

Volvo 850 Saloon R 4dr 1996 (P ) 140,000 miles
Dealer £2,195
Private £1,595
Part exchange £1,295
Trade £1,145

Volvo 850 Estate R 5dr 1996 (P ) 140,000 miles
Dealer £2,995
Private £2,195
Part exchange £1,745
Trade £1,545

Just out of curiosity a Standard T5 too.

Volvo 850 Saloon T5 4dr 1996 (P ) 140,000 miles
Dealer £1,445
Private £1,045
Part exchange £845
Trade £745

Is this the first sign of the rising classic?

Youd hope so. Youd like to think people will start thinking along those lines.

I'm surprised there's such a big premium for the estate - 30% is a lot

Hmmm, it seems they don't recognise the 850 AWD :(

Think they're a bit too high in the clouds though. For a 1997 V70 2.5 AWD with 153k on the clock they're saying £3800 dealer, £3000 private and 2700 part ex:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Look at It this way... You see a well looked-after 850R, well kept with nice, shiny bodywork, you may very well think "they are as solid as they say they are" and with mondeos and bectras falling apart after 4 years, a 200k Volvo would seem like a sensible investment lol

It is looking better.

I think it has always been that way. My 855 was above book price in 2004
