Well guys this is mainly for foammanmark but will hopefully be handy to all with phase 1 V70s.

This whole process took me around 10mins but i would make space for between 30-60 mins to make sure it all goes right.

Tools needed:
Small straight edge screwdriver
T20 Torque socket (i used an adaptor and a 3/8 ratchet)

Ok so the bulbs are gone on your dials, replacing them is not only to make your car look good, its also a requirement for MOT's, most will advise but you will get some lol

1st off here is a picture of what your dash should look like (intact):

http://i1011.photobucket.com/albums/af238/Daza2010/How%20to%20guide%20pics/IMG003.jpg

What you need to do next is get your small screwdriver and carefully remove the drivers side vents (including the one in the inner door) and speaker cover on the top of the dash:

http://i1011.photobucket.com/albums/af238/Daza2010/How%20to%20guide%20pics/IMG004.jpg

http://i1011.photobucket.com/albums/af238/Daza2010/How%20to%20guide%20pics/IMG005.jpg

now that you have done that you will come across some t20 screws that i have circled in red, you will need to remove these:

http://i1011.photobucket.com/albums/af238/Daza2010/How%20to%20guide%20pics/IMG007.jpg

http://i1011.photobucket.com/albums/af238/Daza2010/How%20to%20guide%20pics/IMG008.jpg

ok so now you have done that you will need to remove the centre vent, same way as you removed the other and you will find another 2 screws there, again i have circled them in red so you know which they are:

http://i1011.photobucket.com/albums/af238/Daza2010/How%20to%20guide%20pics/IMG009.jpg

ok now for the passenger side, you will not need to remove the vent, only the one on the inner door and the again the speaker cover, i have circled where the screws are here:

http://i1011.photobucket.com/albums/af238/Daza2010/How%20to%20guide%20pics/IMG010.jpg

http://i1011.photobucket.com/albums/af238/Daza2010/How%20to%20guide%20pics/IMG011.jpg

ok so now all the screws that hold the top of the dash are removed you can now lift the dash upwards and slide it out towards you, your dash should now look like this:

http://i1011.photobucket.com/albums/af238/Daza2010/How%20to%20guide%20pics/IMG012.jpg

http://i1011.photobucket.com/albums/af238/Daza2010/How%20to%20guide%20pics/IMG013.jpg

if you cannot remove the top part of the dash you may have missed a screw so go back throught the guide to make sure :)

now the removal of the dials is pretty simple, what you will need to do is unplug the 4 switch packs that go into the top of the dials (circled in yellow) as you cannot remove the dials otherwise, then unclip the 2 clips (circled in red) that hold the dials in, after that the dials will be loosened and can be removed upwards.

http://i1011.photobucket.com/albums/af238/Daza2010/How%20to%20guide%20pics/IMG014.jpg

now that you have the dials out it all becomes self explanatory, the 4 bulbs i have circled in red below are the main lights for the dials, all the others are for the normal lights like the engine management and abs etc:

http://i1011.photobucket.com/albums/af238/Daza2010/How%20to%20guide%20pics/IMG015.jpg

now to get the dials back in just reverse the guide and bobs your uncle lol

i hope this guide helps out and if you have any other questions please dont hesitate to ask :D thanks guys and enjoy :D

Wow! Thanks for that, but I've now decided to leave the bulb as it is-not working! Only messing, I will tackle that next weekend. Are the bulbs the small blue coloured ones please as I have a couple of those?

You see the 'triangle' of bulbs in the bottom centre, I think the one that is bust is the right hand side of those.

best bet is when you remove the dials, plug them in while the dials are out if that makes sense and try unplugging bulbs until you come across the blown one ;) either that or wait till you come up and ill give you hand? up to you bud :D

unfortunately not bud, you may be able to do it just by removing the drivers side screws, but for the time that you will take messing about in a small space you would have just taken the rest of the screws out, like i said at the start of the guide, it took me 5 mins to get them out and 5 mins to get back in, i just give a longer time scale to make sure everyone who does not have much mechanical knowledge a chance to get it right 1st time :)

Just done the bulb, and the above guide is great. There are 2 screws above the dials and 2 screws above the glove compartment door, in addition to the ones highlighted in the guide, that need removing before the top of the dash is free. Thanks very much though Dazab for the guide, and for the bulbs as well!!

Anyone know if the 850 is similar to this? I assume it would be even if some small details are different? I have several bulbs gone, including in teh radio. Never been able to face it before but armed with this guide may give it a go even though its on page 2 of my list of "things to do" LOL
Happy New Year all.
