Following on from my engine bay clean i decided to re wash and start decontaminating the old girl. Not claying today as will do that when i polish her. Covered in tar and iron filings.
Started with a snow foam and then full wash with megs gold, 2BM and towel dry

Really happy with the result and the few remaining scuff marks will come out with claying and polishing!

Hells bells, that iron x is a bit evil! What does it do to bare bodywork like a stone chip or deep scratch?

No damage at all, its PH neutral but stinks like rotten eggs big time!! Also used it on alloys and its amazing!! Forgot to do photos but basically the inners were black and sprayed it wound the inside and used my meguiars wheel brush and must have got about 80% of the muck off!!! Highly recommend the stuff!!!

Eeerrgh, claying! I.work next to the ryvita factory - makes all the worlds ryvita, jordans cerial etc. I gotta clay my car every 2 weeks because of the crap that comes from their vents.

I have used both the IronX & tardis with great success. Certainly cuts down on the claying effort required.

What mix do you use in your snowfoam - I put 4 parts snowfoam to 1 CG hyperwash

On a general wash i use about 1 part Britemax foam to 4 water in the bottle but if starting out on a car that needs full everything i will use 1 part snow, 1 APC and 3 water. Tend to find snow only good if you have already detailed the car before as it oulls the dirt off if you have decent wax on and reduces chances of swirling massively!

I do like iron x but to get good results from it is quite costly due to the amount you need, there is a newproduct out now cant remember the name of it but apparently its more of a gell so it works longer.

The reason I use the prewash on Betsy is precisely that I am trying to avoid any physical contact until at least some of the dirt has been loosened off - to effectively reduce the risk of long term swirling & the need for additional full details.

These days I tend to restrict myself to just the odd glaze & seal. The paint is pretty good.

Agreed - I find the soap rather than the spray is just a good & you don't use as much.

Like you, i tend to prefer snow foam so reducing contact etc after ive done the car if that makes sense and would only use the iron x as part of a full decontamination before machine polishing which if the cars looked after, should only be about once a year or every two really. Plus also, if you deiced that you do have contaminants and no evidence of swirling it saves you claying and running the risk of scratching which in the long run would be more expensive!

I think I mentioned to you when we met that I used to work there and I know what you mean. Rye flour both cooked and uncooked seemed to get everywhere. Mind you it wasn't as bad as when Bluebird/Caravans International used to build there units next door, the whole area used to get covered in sawdust.
