I never knew there so many like minded T5 heads, I thought I was the only one. However, I am extremely naive about all the mods. I have a 95 T5 saloon in gunmetal, which is serving me extremely well. I do have a few issues though.
Firstly, I work behind the other side of the radar gun, and having driven a couple of work T5's, mine appears very quick. I bought it from a dodgy dealer who had bought it from a very loving owner, who has clearly modified it with obvious things such as lowering it, dump valve and poly mounts, is there any way of easily checking what has been done ?
Also, it has a very slight issue with the 2nd gear occasionally popping out at very low speeds, but it is not regular, any ideas ?

And finally, where on this planet can a man get his hands on a set of titans, are they really that rare ??

Thanks

:welcome:

Easiest way to check if its been modified is to watch the dash boost gauge above the fuel gauge....If its between half and three quarters into the white then its standard and running well, any more it stands a good chance of being chipped or modified, any less and its not performing as it should be. 5th gear is the best to see it, on a motorway or dual carrigeway, floor it from 2000rpm and watch the gauge ;)

My S70 T5 used to slip out of 2nd gear only, very occasionally aswel, never got to the bottom of it though :(

Titans are rare now but they do come up, i've managed to get 5 full sets in 3 years, ranging from £175-£500....just keep looking.

Do you have any pics of the car to go in the gallery ??

Cheers

:welcome:

I trust you will let me off if we ever meet then :worship:

I have just been to Portsmouth this week end - my baby done a record. 309 miles (and still climbing) on one tank of fuel. :thewave:
She has a very little left - but has smashed her previous 270 record. This included beating up a Carrera 4 on the A34 - I think he gave up far too easily. Most of the time I was just wafting along at 75 -80 mph on CC. Easiest miles I have ever done

Anyroad. I think my brother was suitably impressed. She easily carried all five - with my bro in the middle of 2 car seats (carrying my 2 nieces) in fine comfort and style to the jaunt in Chicester, for a spot of shopping. So much so he said he wanted one - and I recon he'd be OK with a V70.

Enjoy your T5 and welcome to the forum. Have a great Xmas and if you are ever around B'ham look me and J up!

Mine also slips out of second gear - mainly when decelerating, but once you know about it you tend to drive accordingly.
Pop into your local Volvo dealer - they can give you the "as bought" spec of the car - I found out that mine was lowered from new by volvo (it was an option).

Hello Officer :wavey:

Glad you found us, another T5 nut to add to the list.

As J said thoses are the little tell tell signs of a tweaked T5 and even if it hasn't been treated to a modified ECU map it may still have been fitted with either a MBC or Bleed Valve as shown in pic,

On the stock ECU this will allow you to raise boost to arround 1.0 Bar (14.5 Psi) which from a stock 9 Psi is a good power hike to arround 260hp for £30 And will see your neadle pointing to the end of the White area.

But if you want you gauge to look more like this,

Then your gonna need a ECU

Greetings officer!
Can I just ask a question do these anti camra sprays that cover your number plates work?

Mine sometimes slips out of first gear on full lock at walking pace in car parks not often enough to worry about it though!

Lance,

They do work, if it is applied properly. But if you ever get stopped by a RAT, they know all about it and will give out some serious fines for having it on the motor., they are pretty unforgiving. Best to try competing between cameras and try to improve your times at each gap, that's my game.

Bracer,

Done the test as prescribed, needle doesn't go immediately, but by the time it stops it is out of the white area, does this mean I am the proud owner of a mod'd 850 ?

Justin,

Will get some pics in the new year. Can't believe there are that many sets of Titans around, where do I begin to look, I am desperate for the Titan look.
