Hi Folks.

Just wondered if anyone has had any experience with any F&K Products.

Seriosuly considering one of their kits, they are height and dampener adjustable.

http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/shopimages/products/normal/knigsport.jpg

Here is the gubbins:

The (Königsport) Coilovers & Silverline Plus X suspension systems are FK's premium coilover kits.

Each kit features unique Koni dampers produced to the exact technical specifications of FK Automotive. These are the ideal kits for a driver who wants both height & dampening to be separately adjustable.

Konigsport and Silverline Plus X suspensions can be adjusted to the drivers exact requirements allowing for peak performance on the street or race track.

Our Konigsport coilover suspension are available with polished zinc -plated steel strut housings while the Silverline Plus X coilover suspension features zinc -plated stainless steel strut housings.

Both kits share the same spring and shock absorbers. The necessary adjustment wrenches and our FK coilover spray are included in each kit.

Around £550

No experience of these personally, but I can COMPLETELY understand why you'd be researching coil overs.. lol

T4_Al had them on his 850, and Claymore has them now.

Pretty sure they were the Silverline kit.

Did look at these when I wanted to get mine done, got no knowledge or experience of them though. I know alot of the boys on T5D5 use the BC coilovers and they seem to get good reviews. On a lighter note I can completey understand why you want some coilovers......

I am sure your reasoning is the same as mine... for me its finding a balance of quality and affordability, I can never justify spending over a grand on coilovers but this kit is manageable.

In which case I look forward to hearing from claymore or T4_Al.

James, my friend...

You are the sole reason I am researching coilovers... I blame this entirely on you.

Although in the smallest glimpse of defence for you, I did ask for the ride out!

There is a cheaper FK coilover kit on eBay 280768652669 maybe worth a look!!!

Lol no shame in it, once you get yourself a set you wont look back, that is until you drive down a road with speed bumps on :(

If I'm honest apart from going from standard map to a chipped one, it's my next best modification Ive done.....so far anyway ;)

That is incredibly cheap but is listed for use on S/V40's.

To be honest they seem a little too cheap to be any good to me?

The biggest issue I have found with the ebay kits are all are around £350-£400 but not height adjustable and are unbranded products.... this really puts me off.

Umm yes it is!

On another note, perhaps it would be possible to conduct a group buy and get a good amount off these kits.

I for one am interested as is smithness and possibly you Andy. Surely if we get 5 people then they should be able to knock £50 or more off a set?

Well the cheapest I can find the BC's is £629... look fairly good units are they worth the extra £100 though?

Maybe, tbh I am quite happy with the ride and handling supplied by the Koni adjustables... although I could always sell those if I go for coil overs... Umm......food for thought :)

Which car are they for emlyin as if there for road use IMHO you will hate them for the ride quality but if there just for track use etc they will be brilliant

Greg is certainly not happy with his set on T5D5... with all the farting about, for a couple of hundred more, he could have had a set of KW's... like I have... again.

I did have issues with my original set of KW's on my red R, the bush kept coming out of the bottom of the rear shock. The set on the current 855 are very good.

I can fully understand that, I have looked into Koni Adjustables or Yellows and they work out to be around £500 new for just the dampners plus a decent set of springs at £200.

If these F&K's are any good at nearly £200 less its a no brainer to me.

this certainly is food for thought as my t5-r could do with a little stiffening up as its got a little soft of late, 16 year old suspension and a year sat around doing nothing did not do the handling any good at all. :ashamed:

emlyn, if you can arrange a group discount i could be interested in getting the 850 a nice crimbo present this year, and it could do with it soon, what with wd40 coming up soon ! ! !

I'm not having a problem with them, as long as you can live with the choppy ride at the back in daily use, on track the car feels very planted.

just out of interest, are they actual coil-overs on the rear or the standard style seperate shocks with height adjustable collars on the springs?

As you say, they are actually shocks and springs on the rear, I'm actually using the standard nirvomat springs on the back, they seem to give a slight better ride without hurting the handeling.

i've only seen 1 kit that uses a genuine coil-over on the rear, & not sure why. If you look at Emelyn's pic in the original post the second shock/spring from the left would be perfect

Hello Emyln

Not heard much about the FK'x But Redbrick is dead right i am not happy with the BC V1 coilovers I have on my car! the rear dose not go low enough, for height adjustable! there is a possibility of the spring partially dislocating I have already managed to do it on track by unloading the other corner, £££££££ to get back in as well!
People are having to tighten the top nuts on them as winter is here now! A mechanic friend suspects the metal on the top of the shaft to be so cheap that that in cold weather its contracting and actually very slightly stretching it each time eventually leading to the top nuts coming slightly lose they are a 30 point set up but do nothing till No 22 and i notice issues with them getting firmer as the oil in them gets hotter especially on track Personally I would recommend staying clear of Them!

Get a set of Koni Yellows with the Eibach springs! loads of people use them on track as well with no complaints!

Cheers Greg

I have the BR series BC coilovers on mine which were on the T5D5 group buy.

The rear springs were too short but they sent another set through and well happy with them. A good ride/handling balance and easy to adjust damping and height plus I have top camber adjustment. In fact on the motorway it's more refined. Also can still put an amazing amount of weight in the boot without it effecting ride height massively so don't miss my Nivs.

The guys who fitted them (Lotus specialists) were impressed with overall build quality - unlike Gregs!!

Oh, I've had Koni Yellows on a previous car (Saab) and thought they were average to say the least - the damping adjusters also became very hard to turn after about a year and the adjustment itself was nowhere near as good as the BC's.

I also had Koni adjustabubbles on my Saab 9000. Had them wound right up and wasn't a harsh a ride at all. Too soft IMO. I know the roads are ****e, But I prefer them a bit harder... (Please no one quote that bit, Lol)
If the group buy is after Xmas I might be up for it.

Not the same car I know, But I have FK coilovers on my V40. (AK's, height adjustable but not damping)
They are currently lowered about 100mm all round.
which is the lowest possible setting on the front, but the rear still has about 50mm of adjustment left!!
I've had them on for about 18 months now, and Ive had no problems with them at all. (I have caked the height adjusters in waxoyl - essential if you ever want them to move again!!)
When the weather gets really cold, they are a littel noisy first thing in the morning but 200 yds down the road and they are silent again.
The ride on mine is nice and firm without being too harsh, sometimes a little too bouncy at slow speed but really responsive down country B roads.

When they eventually give up I'm definately going to replace them with FK's again!

lol! I had them on a 9000 too with the usual Abbott springs.

Sounds like the FK ones are ok then, certainly a decent price but I would probably be inclined to pay a bit more for something with decent damping adjustment.

For the price/value I think the FK's are fantastic, and I would definately buy them again.
That said if I could afford £1200 to spend on KW's I would do so in a heartbeat!

Certainly dont agree with the monopoly approach.

My mate only found out though because this other random rolling road company said they could map it and went to do it and told my mate its locked. My mate went wtf and was well pi*sed. So he went to another company and got the same feed back.He hasnt been back to awesome gti yet one of the reasons being cost to have it removed.

I was under the impression if it wasnt "right" they return it to standard for free?
