How do. Am thinking of a weekend project and deciding on removing the wipers on the front headlights. Question is, is it an easy job or is there some electrical gubbins that I need to be aware of and/or sort too?

Anyone come across (ooer) a write up ont web at all?

Cheers

is there a reason for removing them?? easiest way is to follow the wiring etc but when you take them out you will see where they were, maybe a pointless exersize?

Easy as.

Access from underneath. No need to take out headlamp or remove bumper, just the undertray.

Remove wiper arm, unplug wiring (inboard of the headlamps when I looked), jack up and support front of car, undo the front of the undertray, get under and find the right socket extension to get on the two bolts holding the motors in.

Done in an hour including the faffing.

No warning lights or elec issues that I am aware of.

They are quite useful in the winter if the wipers are OK and the jets work, though.... ;)

just remember to blank off the washer jet lol,
and you can buy that panel without the hole in it,
or you could just put white led light in holes lol

Well someone who had the car previously has cut out a section of the bumper behind the wiper arm so it makes no difference. I need a new bumper anyway.

Oh they work although the jet isnt hitting the lamp (easy fix of course) as I found out when two lasses walked by and I ended up squirting em lol

The other option was this http://www.angelfire.com/tx6/bond1318/index2.html

Build it an auto-dimming rear view mirror... and be the only x40 in the country to have one? :)

I much prefer them without the wipers, gives them a smoother look.

Get the side lights from partsforvolvos, but get the smoked ones as the clear ones stand out a lot on dark cars and look a bit chavvy.

Get mesh grill at the same time. :B_thumb: Suits the darks s40s well.

Actually I just been out to the car and they already got the clear ones on by the looks of it, although they are clear/mucky on the insides. Do partforvolvo do the grilles too?

The bumper is cut out like that to aid getting the headlights out without removing the bumper, mine has been done as well.
