Hello All,
Bought my S60R almost two months ago now and have read extensively about the angle gear issues.

One thing that is not clear is at what point (model year?) in time the angle gear was upgraded, does anyone know the answer to this question?

Thanks in advance,
Nick0

I've read that it's from model year 2006. I'll see if VIDA or Rufe can enlighten us.

Update.: My 55 plate 2006 model year car has the new part, according to VIDA, the part number according to this is 31256008.

This is the part referred to in the upgrade kit - the kit being part number 31256246 and comprising:

Sleeve part number 31256008/Retaining ring part number 977101/Grease, splines joint part number 1161748

just checked my service history and at 101,946miles (when the Angle gear was replaced) MRG Volvo did indeed fit the upgraded service kit.
The service kit was £89 and the Angle gear was £756.

Sorted!:)

when did that start then?

His car probably built from june/july onward and reg from sept 2005 but is classed as a 2006 model.
RFL went up for vehicles registered from 2006 onwards thats why its better to stick with pre 2006 vehicles as long as you can
