Bigger Turbo?

A friend wants to fit a larger turbo to his 850 R he rung me today asking bout a 19g turbo..........
anyone shed a bit of light on the situation whether it will make much of a differnce from his 15g
or steer in the correct direction

its a 19t. I'm assuming his is an auto if its got a 15g now, manuals had 16t's. The 19t will be quite a bit laggier & really need bigger injectors & a remap to get the best out of it (& to stop it bending rods on an auto)

i was very disappointed with the 19t when i first fitted it, but a RIP (reverse intercooler pipework) & larger 960 throttle body improves it no end

im just the middle man he,s seems to think a bigger turbo will make it quicker...........

yes it will be running the 16t bart forgot about the black one being a manual R, lol,as pedro say the 19t needs more mods to help it and they enjoy bending rods boosting hard in low rpms,hence the remap or maye a boost controller to much hassle imo, how does the 18t compare for probs pedro?

i think the 18t is closer to the characteristics of the 19t than the smaller turbo's, but i've only driven one T-5R with a 18t which also had some rather unique mods so a bit hard to make a direct comparison (it did make 288bhp@wheels tho)

I've an 18T for sale £250 + p&p..in vgc ..no play in shaft....would suggest whites with it but a remap would be v.good idea. also need angled downpipe or 3" custom downpipe (ferrita)...i've had both the 18 and 19 t there's not alot in it...... the rest of the mods you make and especialy the map will make the difference............
