Hi all,

I have got the oppertunity to pick up a low mileage 99 V70 2.4 XT auto pretty cheaply but could do with a bit more oomph to pull a small trailer, would it respond well to a remap and if so how much more could I expect?

Regards to all.

I disagree Im sure that some of the 2.4s were 140 bhp can be made 170 BHP with just a software change, the original Mini one 90 bhp can be made into 125 bhp of the cooper also with a software change. Some naturally aspirated cars are down tunned at the factory for cheaper insurance, emissions, company car tax etc!

That's a good point, My mate (before he got a clio cup) had a fiesta si 1.4. Had a race cat, 2.5" stainless system, 30mm lowered all round, camber kit, adjustable shocks and a 3"cold air induction carbon fiber thingy. When he took it for a remap (think it was superchips, 10 years ago now, bit blurry:)) it made over 130bhp. But he spent a fortune doing it. There's no MBC quickfix with with N/A tuning!

the 140bhp versions were 10valve and the 170bhhp versions were 20valve

the 140bhp versions were 10valve and the 170bhhp versions were 20valve

The 140 hp and 170 hp were both 20V engines - B5244S and B5244S2.

The only difference between them is the ECU software. You can see from the dyno chart (link below) that the 140 hp is restricted after 4500 rpm.

BTW, the 2.4 XT may be referring to the 2.4T version rather than the 2.4 NA.
