Well to be totally honest, i would rather take a engine out of a car, i had to inspect and replace my matrix today in the T4 as it was showing early signs of leaking, what a ball ache of a job complete dash out.

It took 3 hours to get out, as i have never worked on a 40 series before so all was new to me, 3 hours to go back in, all went back together nicely.. never again though, what a stupid design, you can only get them out from the top, unlike the 70 series classics, which are so much easier to get out.. well at least it was the matrix at fault lol..

I had to do that on both mine and my dads 940s. The manual says just to unbolt the end and remove the matrix, but unfortunately those instructions only work for the LHD models, RHD models have the pedal box in the way and its a dash out job to get the complete heater unit out.

I feel your pain buddy ;)

"Refitting is the reverse of removal" and all that!!!

Glad it's sorted and back together. I hate interiors.

Sod that looks like a right mare of a job, still at least it was actually leaking and you caught it before it caused any damage. Now you can welcome the cold winter with open arms safe in the knowledge your heater will be 100% fresh.

Not forgetting to disconnect the battery before commencing any work ;)
