Spark plug fell apart

Developed a misfire on Sunday coming down the M1 - at a normal speed - just got the sparks out and the ceramic has come off no1 together with the out electrode being bent up.

Will the ceramic have made out of the exhaust with out damaging the valves or should I get the head off!!!!!

I was always told if you drop ceramic in the bores panic...it will make a heck of a mess...hope i am wrong though..

Yes this is what I thought, just had a long conversation with someone who's done a lot with engine rebuilds, he reckons the ceramic should break up, give the top of the piston a lot of marks and exit via the exhaust possibly giving the valve seat a bashing, so he's offered a look with an endoscope (have I spelt that right?) and a compression test.

So should I be buying a lottery ticket this week......?
