I'm reconing at least 150-200kgs I lug big lumps of machinary around for a living and there's no way I'd even entertain lifting a T-5 lump with fluids and gearbox.

At least 100kg (dry, no gearbox) i'd say. I deal with landrover/rangerover engines sometimes and the lightest is 150kg.

Me and my friend both can say it was pretty hard lifting the T4 engine in my garage. It's an awkward lift and I'd say it's at least 140kg with no box. Obv more for the T5. LMAO at the 70kg estimate, you'd have a big surprise when you came to lift it!!!

Only bloody just though and about 10" up and across onto the sub-frame took two lifts so i guess about 160kg with the box,

We did also lift a red block out of Smithy's 940 with a bit of 4x4 and a tow rope, my shoulder still aint right lol :)

Only just over 40 mate :)

They are never that heavy - I'm not big and I picked up a T4 lump with my dad! The problem is finding good handholds. If you can do that then deadlifting it isn't too bad.

We have to have the exact weight at work, for when they are transported. If i can remember, i'll have a look tommorrow.

Just picking something up off the ground is fine if you can get a good grip, deadlifting 100kg isn't hard as long as you have a good grip. But if you need to put it on the back of a trailor or something, thats not so easy.

Had a quick look the other day, lightest i found was 172.5kg (sure i'v seen some lighter though), that includes the box/case its transported in, which is quite substantial so i'd imagine that weighs a fair bit itself.

I helped put a 2.0t engine from a v40 on the back of a truck a few years ago, difficult to guess at the weight because they are difficult to get a good grip. but i would say it was heavier than the 95kgs that i could bench at the time.

Thats a pretty good lift there, wish i'd have kept it up but when i got a full time job just didn't seem to have the energy to put in to it anymore.

Trying to start again, but can't really get into it properly, need to try and sort out some sort of routine.

Can only do 8 reps of 65kgs now :(

Just to add my 2 bits worth... When I was 14, I could deadlift 124Kg. I was 6'1" and 12 stone. By the time I met the missus, I was 25, 14st7lb, 32" waist, 48" chest and could rack-off 20 cross-legged chinups holding on with 2 fingers on each hand. Got married, changed job, got fat. The strength is still there but I'm a bit wobblier than I was! lol ;)

I'v always found when mates have had a go for the first time they are shocked at how little they can do, but its the fact that not many people really use there chest muscles, day to day, so most people tend to start at low weights.

and they wobble around all over the place! lol

i agree with this because not alot of peeps do manual jobs these days but when you get used to handball in truck driving then muscles are used like me and james and probly frankie too.thats why we arnt fat truckers lol
