Many things could cause the car to cut out at low RPM. One of the most comon faults is a major boost leak.

How does the car run at idle? Is it lumpy?

When you say RPM sensor im assuming you mean the crank sensor, in which case yes it could cause it to cut out but they usually just make the car idle like a dog.
