hi guys wonder if any one has come across this, just lately in a morning when i start the car the revs shoot up to about 1500 2 2000rpms for about 7/10 seconds rather than the usual second thinking it could be the idle air control valve sticking slightly and requiring a clean? anybody else had this??
cheers mick

hi there mick....

I had exactly this with my r too.....
it turned out to be a air leak from the intake manifold...
after sorting this i did all my vac pipes with braided hose and this sorted it out...

the hose was only about a tenner if that with enough to do it all with some spare...
i didnt bother with the silsicone ones because differant people suggested that they was not as good as the braided version...

To this day I hold constant strong boost....hope this helps....

Also to eliminate the valve try cleaning it.....

it will only take an hour at most .... ( heres a a link to how

hi fellow volvoer ive had issues with the above problem and the only thing i havnt done is to take the inlet mani off and fit a fancy new uprated gasket,i have another manifold im going to sand and buff up along with a 960 throttle body.so when ive done finished the jobs off im doing at the moment it will get done , do you have a link or address where you got the braided vac pipe from?

i do beleive a "whoop whoop" comment is in order, for too long ive had people shaking their heads at me while im sitting at the lights,3" turbo back exhaust suddenly reving upto 2500 rpm then back to 850..2500...850...2500..850....well you get the idea and its a royal pain when shutting of for junctions etc when the car decides to have one more burst of throttle before stopping!! hopefully the rain holds off tommorow and im gonna try all of the above!!! cheers guys :)

i know exacly what you mean it is embarrassing , to stop mine doing this i unplugged the idle control valve totally and ran it like that for two years with no problems apart from cold starts having to wait for engine to warm up
