just been looking thru PFV & they do a 320mm brake conversion (from 286mm or 305mm which i assume i've got). Within the parts list it says "larger Volvo caliper carriers" & no talk of new calipers, so looks like you use the original calipers the like the 850 302's

has anyone any idea what model the carriers or discs are off please

many thanks

XC90 bits fit.... 336 front and 308 rear if you have 17" + wheels :)

Have a look here :) http://forums.t5d5.org/topic/16374-17-wheel-brake-options/

Does a D5 go fast enough to warrant big breaks?

she did a 17.2 mate (thats a no then lol). But her MOT's almost due & i remember for the last one they said the brakes brakes would need replacing so might as well go bigger while i'm doing it

Hi all,
Sorry to awake a old thread but I have a little dilema.Have got my mits on a 320mm kit ,all gen Volvo but I am getting little or mixed info on the carrier bolts.
Does anyone know if old bolts from the 286mm carriers fit onto the new bigger carriers?

Regards

They should do but I would replace with new bolts any way. For the price, it's worth doing.

So let me understand this. I can upgrade my discs to 336mm and all I have to do is get the XC90 carriers?

Does this apply to the S60R as well? or are the Brembo carriers different?

I remember when I got my Brembo 305s and plod pads, awesome! good work there mate. Silver manifold paint may be more hard-wearing, I used it on mine...

After suffering from major rear brake failure lastweek, I decided to do all the work myself.Being so §§§§ed off with car had totally forgot to call GRN motors to cancel the appointment for the front brakes.
I had the big calipers off Tim Williams £110 for calipers, carriers and sliders, all in very good condition.
Other Parts needed:
320mm Brake discs,
New police spec pads,
Longer Volvo hoses,
New bleed nipples,
Fresh brake fluid (atleast 1ltr, I didnt buy enough)
New longer caliper carrier bolts - very important.

After removing old calipers and carriers and hoses, the entire hub area was cleaned down. When trying to fit new bolts I discovered the holes in hub and deflection limiter are too small for new bolts and larger carriers. A titanium step drill and blacksmiths drill was used to make the holes larger (15.5mm).
The deflection limiters were a bit a headache, the material is a lot tougher, I had to use a machine shop and its lathe to make the holes larger (16mm).

Once the holes were sorted out , the refitting process began. All parts fitted perfectly, then I realised the half a litre of brake fluid is not going to be enough as it took about 250ml to fill up one caliper :(
Bled all 4 calipers just to be on safe side, clean up and road tested car and it really stops now.
