mine will be running the right boost mate dont worry mate, im having a fuel comander fitted and the car will be mapped to run the right boost so im hoping to upset a few saabs on this meet.i bet they wont like being beaten by a 136bhp 8v volvo 940 lol

if it makes you feel any better i ran a diesel last time, so you can't be the slowest on the board lol. Once you get into the swing of it you'll be surprised how much fun it is just racing in a straight line

Before you go stripping the turbo off - have you checked if the w/g spindle is seized where it goes through the turbo housing? It happened to my T-5 and is easily cured with a load of plusgas and a small hammer...;)

Thanks for the tip but it wasn't that, but the great news is turbo boost is restored again ( at the expense of the cat ). I discovered that the car ran perfectly with the exhaust separated from the turbo, so off with the front downpipe, i gave it a shake and it rattled and bits fell out. one collapsed cat, so i got my big crow bar and smashed the rest out of it and refitted the exhaust and the car is running lovely. just got to insure it and its off to the strip to race the misses.......

Well my S70 has boosting issues, going to spend half hour looking into them now, If I cant resolve them then I dont think ill be coming along. If I can however im going to strip it!!! ;)

Ended up putting his old ones back on. lol

As i had to finish putting my actuator on in the dark, on my first run i'll probably find out that i'v not tightend a jubilee clib up enough and have a pipe come off or something. lol

My first time of running the car at a 1/4mile event and I did jump the lights a few times :( but when i didnt I managed to get a 15.05 @ 100mph

Was in the yellow V40 again. Temperature was too hot at 29degC, but car should be good for a 14.5.

Reason for lower speed was that I misses fourth gear across the line. It probably would have been my fastest time of the day.

Hi folks, what a great weekend, weather fabulous, and some great track action, learnt alot this weekend and now need to improve my starts, i think that is where i'm losing most. thanks to carl for the boost reg improvement advice felt alot stronger, didn't get to see what the gauge said, but unfortunately the pipe to the intercooler went pop at the end of the run, repair with tank tape and zippy ties but i think it was leaking as the boost was lower than before. At least it got me a couple more runs (7 on sat, 8 on sun)

Nice to see everybody and met some vp members that we've not met before.

Jayne was doing well in the v70r and won her last race against a honda integra who was giving her the eyeball at the start, but she sorted him out....lol:wink:

The other strange thing is that is feels really good on the road now as the boost comes in loads earlier and when on the motorway 3rd and 4th pull really well now. Plenty low down, but not much high up??

silver one got a 14.9 and the black one got a 14.3 i think, my car feels rapid on the road but don't mean nothing on the track, the rover is great at 60fts 2.3 ever ysingle time thanks to the lsd

Not surprised the t4 was spinning its wheels in 1st and 2nd, with the traction off my auto t4 would spin its wheels in the dry when the turbo came on full boost - and 2nd - and 3rd if it was anything other than bone dry:D

yeah mostly ran standard boost 12psi fastest time was my first run, that silver t4 was running 19psi and only ran 0.3 faster, wish i could of turned mine up that high, bloody rovers cant be remmapped

Mine was mapped and had de-cat, very quick little car.
So when that silver t4 is sorted and launched well, it should do 14.5s all day long.

somebody said that the black one had launch control it did a 14.3, i did turn my boost up but with nowhere to test i turned it up too much and hit fuel cut constantly and still got a 15.4 so i know i could of got under 15

The black s40 t4 was a mate of mine, yes it's got Launch control but he didn't use it as he's got a switch he's got to keep his finger on and now realises it's mounted in the wrong place to do that lol. His best time of the day was a 14.2 @ 102 mph not bad times for his first ever time at a 1/4 mile event.

The black s40 t4 was a mate of mine, yes it's got Launch control but he didn't use it as he's got a switch he's got to keep his finger on and now realises it's mounted in the wrong place to do that lol. His best time of the day was a 14.2 @ 102 mph not bad times for his first ever time at a 1/4 mile event.

They are a decent intercooler as standard, but with the power he's running an intercooler would help.
I'd have thought on a cool day and with more experience he'll get into the 13s.

I was totally gutted to lose to a rover the words in the car are not publishable on this thread, but the blow was cushioned when i realise that it was vpc member driving....lol :eek:

now its to the drawing board to plot faster times....i hope!!!! ;)
