Apart from my recent issue with my coils and cat I've got another issue which i I've had for a couple of weeks basically my revs on idle are perfect no fluctuation, car revs up fine however if i rev it high (3000+ rpm) and take my foot off the throttle and let the revs drop it drops past the idle mark and almost stalls, however if i tap the throttle slightly as its falling its ok. Car hasn't actually stalled but its not right.
Here's a video

Any ideas?

P.s. the engine management light has now been now cleared it was the 2nd O2 sensor the id left out, its now back in and the light off but the problem is still there.

I'm not sure about these later ME7 engines but I understand they suffer with throttle body faults. Perhaps it's worth giving the throttle body a clean up with some carb cleaner and then seeing how you get on?

I would've looked at the maf first then started looking at the etm, before coils, no way 3 coils would break down at the same time..

What's gsf?

GSF = German Swedish & French - they supply pattern parts for cars of those countries, including obviously Volvo.

As far as your issue goes - could be an issue with the throttle pedal potentiometer, but reading the codes may help. You may be getting bad voltage reading from a worn throttle pedal. Other than that I would look at MAF & O2 sensors.

Ok well pass me on the number on it as i have one here, the large Yellow sticker has been removed on mine and a smaller Yellow sticker is in its place, so this one has had the Volvo treatment..

4 x 10mm bolts underneath, plus you have to remove the etm to IC hose, be very careful when removing the 2 connectors on the etm pipe, they can be brittle and if you snap the lugs off, then you will need a new connector.

Gary.

PS It is on Ebay now, this is the reply i sent to someone..

Hi the Volvo part number is 8644347 it also has 65 CFM-2, i think it was replaced in 2003 as the orginal sticker has been removed and this smaller sticker put in its place with a number starting 03W091401.the unit looks very very clean from the 120k car it was removed from. hope this helps Gary

Well after my previous post i took the car out got 3/4 of a mile down the road and the ets light came on and car wouldn't go about 20mph pulled over read the codes and got

P0121 Throttle Position Sensor/Sw/Performance Problem

but then i cleared the code, restarted the car and did a 20 mile round trip with no issues at all.

So... New ETM or new TPS and where should i get one from.

Starting to give me the hump now lol, everyday car has gone into limp mode only happens once a day and as soon as i clear the codes ( although there wasn't any just the ETS light) its fine and runs all day long. Ordered a new maf that should arrive today wheather it will make any difference i don't know.
Came across Xemodex last night they appear to make upgraded etms for me7s with digital position sensors or something supposed to be good but being just shy of £500 bit out of my price range at the moment. Also read that if i buy a secondhand etm it needs to be coded by volvo before it will work don't know how true this is.
So does anyone have an etm hanging about they would like to sell me must be cheap though lol.
Off to devon with my caravan in 3 weeks so need to get it sorted out.
Cheers
Dave

Sorry to hear that, inside the etm is a plastic film sort of thing that has tracks/grooves in it, these tracks wear out and then eventually you get this non or false reading of the etm, Volvo are cheaper than £500 i think my old Cassis R was £400 but that was 3years ago..

Gary..

PS :( My module sold for £21 lol... that frown was for you not from me haha..

I read somewhere that if the car is less than 10 years old and you can prove that the etm is at fault, Volvo will replace/repair it for free as it is known to be a faulty part. Don't know how much truth is in that tho.
Shame they don't do that with the crappy DIM's in the '01/'02/'03 V70/S60/S80 etc.

My R was 8 years old with 98k on her when it failed, i still had to fork out £400, they put all of this crap on about £80 per upload of a file and there was about 5 files to upload, either way you get screwed..

don't they still need coding to the car by the main stealer?

If i happen to find one could i not just swap the bit that's worn (pentiometer or whatever its called) into my into unit to get round having it coded.
