Anyone have any pros and cons regarding the 19t compared to a kkk? Not just all out power, but lag etc.

seen the performance envelope there's really not that much in it unless your going for well over 300bhp AFAIK

KKK has slightly higher flow rate and a slightly better performance envelope at the top end, not sure if they lag will be appreciably different.

physically the KKK seems to be a weaker turbo, think Richard's already had to replace his if i remember right, & as Monkey says their isn't much in it

At the minute then, with the sort of power i want, the 19t seems more suitable.

You will need forged rods with the kkk, with the 19t you can get away without them as long as the car is mapped too suit.

the kkk is a much more flowing turbo, cue Alan M.

Ah yes mapping, thats the question i really should be asking - where can i get suitable mapping on an auto.

I aint found a definitive answer yet.

Not many places around now that can custom map Liam, Rica in Holland or MTE are the only ones i know of.

You could always try a Turbo tuner for a custom map with your auto box.

Correct but its highly likely the Turbo wasn't perfect from factory

So if i were to get a 19t fitted and have some vxr injectors (example), they'd be able to map it in a way that would run lower boost in 1st and 2nd?

I just worried about running a 19t and having the car kick down into 1st on full boost, doubt the engine and box will last long. How does your map get round this?

The K24 is so much more of a turbo compared to the 19t. The charge temps I monitored after the Turbo before the IC were lower at 1.2 bar so that can only be a good start for the power minded of you lol. The K24 turbine impellar is much bigger than the TD04 series turbo's so will cope with higher gas flow. The compressor wheel is also bigger than the 19t. The castings are very thin though on the K24 and they crack which is a common problem as both of mine did it. Its down to the map though I think as when the EGTs get really hot they don't like the heat where-as the TD04 turbine housings seem to be able to cope with the heat much better. Still, even though the K24 may look like it is problematic with poor mapping I'd have one any day over the 19t and I did lol.
