Essex Meet Southend Seafront 3rd July

A few members have expressed an interest in having a meet in the Essex area possibly a meet and convoy to the Ace cafe, we're open to suggestions and the date is not set in stone so that can be up for discussion as well...

Ideas and names below, would be good to put some names to some faces :)

Looking at the Ace Cafe web page they do seem to already have two separate gatherings organised that day so we might have to consider a different location or date unless we gate crash.. Lol

8 ball is a good potential, it's got a large car park so parking won't be an issue like ace cafe, not sure on the food as never tried it..

I have approached the 8 Ball and I am awaiting their response,

In the mean time I would just like to say that under permission from Justin I have approached the diner as VPCUK, and as I am sure you all appreciate in the interest of the clubs reputation it would be nice to refrain from any silly driving when on site and arriving/leaving.

If this meet is a success I am sure you would all welcome this as a more regular occasion and would want to feel welcomed back by the staff at 8 ball, rather than have to find another location due to silly antics and showing off, although to be honest I am sure we Volvo drivers can all remain refrained ;)

I shall keep you all posted as I receive correspondence from the 8 Ball

Okay, have received a response from the 8 Ball, unfortunately they are already booked for the 3rd and every first Sunday of the month. They do appear keen to get us onboard and have offered us a spot on the second Sunday of every month if were interested.

Only problem with that is it's the weekend of the Goodwood FoS and I know I'm not about because of that, if everyone else is still free then I shall reply back and we can move the meet and I'll miss this one out. Either that or we can find another location?

Convoy wise people make sure you have your sensible hats on the A127 as it's 40 with cameras and then 50/national speed limit with average cameras all the way to the pub from the seafront. Yes they really are that hot on speeding in Southend.

Just to confirm for anyone wondering what's been going on.


Were meeting this Sunday (3rd. July) along the seafront at southend on the westcliff side of the casino @ 13:00. We are then planning to take a convoy over to the Dick Turpin pub on the A127, weather permittin, at around 14:00 ish, maybe sooner if the weathers crap. For those local or at work that day but who are thinking of heading over if I can get wifi signal I shall update the thread to let you know when we have left the seafront for the pub or if any last minute changes have occurred.

Not sure what time we will all be there until as it really depends on everyone and how long we can chat for. I have been to other car meets which have brought a group of people together and the conversation has gone on for well over 3-4 hours on the first meet so who knows...

Im a little upset I couldnt make it until just before 5pm but was good to meet the stragglers who stayed! I passed Steve driving his red R towing the police car replica on the M25 near dartford crossing... certainly a sight!
