Getting one of these fitted in a couple of weeks

http://www.kenwood-electronics.co.uk/products/car/multimedia/receivers/DDX4028BT/

I needed to get a handsfree fitted to The Interloper and was not to impressed with the 603 head unit that's fitted. So....

Only shame it that it appears the Volvo have stopped making the facia adaptor that allows you to keep the cup holder.

I'll post some pics of the install when the guy has done it.

Oh if you are interested the facia adaptor was £27.00ish

that looks very nice, i've always liked Kenwood. How much is the unit if you don't mind me asking? & what year is your S60 becuase i've only seen single DIN fascia's for my 2002

Unit is £335 plus the wiring for the steering wheel controls plus the cost of a nice Italian chap who is going to fit it all for me. Total £500 inc the VAT.

The Interloper is a MY04 V70.

I'll post a pic of the facia adaptor later.

Some (not very good) pics of the install.

Concidering it is a Volvo genuine facia adaptor I am not to happy with the colour match.

That said it is growing on me as the head unit is itself two tone

Also it was sold to me as a double Din facia adaptor, but I think some thing got lost in the translation. Turns out it is a double to single adaptor that was suppost to have a pocket bought with it to fit under the single din unit.

Anyhow the pictures.

i do like the look of that unit, & that colour match is terrible. I need a new/decent headunit so might look into a double fascia for mine with the same unit

One this occasion I have to agree with gringo findongo - the colour match is not great, Suggest you find some spray paint & plastic primer.

I have a single din with a pop-up screen. Does the job!

Hi.

I have just purchased this fascia plate also for a 2004 spec interior and the colour match is just as bad. There are only two fascias of this type on teh dealers system and teh otehr one is for earlier models (presumably light grey).

I am arranging for a pioneer AVH 4300 to be fitted but am toying with the idea of trying to spray the fascia for a better match. Anyone ever done this before and if so what did you use? I was thinking maybe Plastikote?

Following on from my earlier question I took the fascia plate to an interior sprayer who said the colour difference was within acceptable tolerance!

Not happy with this I decided to have a go myself. If anyone is interested Hycote Body Spray in matt black over a Hycote adhesion spray worked well and is almost a perfect match for the '04 dash.

When the new Pioneer is fitted I will post some pics.

Had the Kenwood unit ripped out last weekend.

It turned out to be the worst piece of kit I have ever used.

The hands free was awfull, the i-phone/pod would not play if the unit was powered off then turned back on again.

And on the final day the unit froze on boot up.

Now got the Pioneer AVH-3300BT.

It is a much better unit.

Any audio specialists out there?? I've been looking at new stereos and I find that there's a lot of marketing crap out there, but I have a couple of requests(if they actually exist):

I'm interested in understanding which head units work the best with an I-phone, (I-pod functions, telephone inegration ... etc).

Any Head units with a USB on the rear of the unit? Would like to run a hidden USB cable to glovebox or centre console.

I'm guessing that the DAB head units also have FM just incase?
