Invested in a 6000K kit while at the modified nationals this weekend.

Fully CanBus ready within the balast units so no additional wiring modules like some of the kits

Can somebody who has fitted a kit tell me the best place to mount the balasts.

I do not realy want to start drilling hole to mount them if I can avoid it.

Thanks

my drivers side kit i did screw into the ECU box using self tappers, but used the radiator top bolt for the passenger side

Just to keep in mind - I was told the main reason HID kits go faulty is through excessive vibration. I mounted the ballast brackets on small rubber 'bobbins' to absorb any vibrations - worked well for mine.

I basically stuffed then into a gap , similiar to Pedro. nover bolted in it.

Ran like that for couple of years OK

Just spent an hour trying to fit the kit.

And put it back in the box....

The cable will not come off the bulbs, so you cannot get the spring on to hold the bulb.

Tried removing the spring and putting over the cable but the cannot see to relocate the bottom prongs.

Patience ran out.

So.
HiD kit 1. Blackdog 0.

Will try again tomorrow - maybe...

OK the score is now:-

HiD Kit 2:1 Blackdog

Managed to feed the wiring through the spring and then push the spring back into place to hold the bulbs.

That made it 1:1

HiD kit fought back in the final stages.

Instructions said to drill a 20mm hole in the covers.
The problem is that a 22mm wide connector does not fit through a 20mm hole.

HiD 2:1 Blackdog.

Anyone know where I can pick up 6000K side light bulbs?

So they are currently fitted but without the covers.

Tomorrow it will be 23mm holes and HiD 2:3 Blackdog !!!

Kin wires don't fit through the 23mm hole either.

And now got whe bulb failure dipped beam warning.

Awaiting info from the supplier now.

mine are fine & don't get the warning light, but my old mans from the same supplier gives the bulb failure message. You can drill the shunt to bypass the message but he's not keen on doing that, & i've heard of people buying the cancellers & still getting the message so not sure what the plan is next

I drilled my Shunt, easy to do. to get rid of message
cancellers didnt make a difference on my S60

Buy a spare shunt for £5 if you botch it.
