Who said owning a T5 has to cost the earth. Have a look at this Average MPG figure for a very relaxed motorway journey!

My T5 currently averaging 32.5 MPG and I have only been on congested A roads the odd B road blast and mainly round town no motorway cruising. If it was an old T5 driven like that it would be around the Mid 20s!

A manual box seems to make things a lot better.

Well thats on a Rica'd manual. Not sure about tuned auto's but when I borrowed an 854R Auto I averaged 25 and could push to 28 if I tried really hard. Hopefully as yours has a HLM chip (if I remember rightly) you should get a little higher.

My 850 T5 has managed to go for the last 12 months on a single tank. Mind you she's only moved twice in the whole time :)

mine is standard apart from a 100 cell cat. i will be 5 up so 28 would be good:)

my 850r AUTO manages a respectable 25mpg normal driving or 32mpg on a slow 65mph drive yawnnnnn

On my 850R auto when I had the Rica 28mpg was the average but 32 mpg was quite achievable on a run without having to feather the throttle. Now I average around 37, I did a run at the weekend which consisted of mainly motorway driving so I reset the computer to see what the computer thought it was doing and I got it just over 40mpg overall which I was quite impressed with. On a recent trip to Scotland with a car load I managed to average around 34 mpg across the entire 2,000 miles of the trip not bad I thought as it wasn't an easy time for the car....

My s70r auto is currently getting 22.5mpg, mostly short journeys (about 10miles). Long trips it gets between 31mpg and 36mpg, depending on how heavy your right foot is.

So what has changed to get 37MPG? Are these the sort of figures coming back from chipped cars?

My missus loves her auto T5, at 40 odd thousand miles it's hardly run in, but am seriously jealous of the above figures; she gets 24mpg and drives like a pensioner :-(
