Picked up my new car yesterday afternoon "The Interloper"

MY04 V70 D5 S with leather, 17's, Roof Spoiler and winter pack.

93K on the clock with full service history.

Can anyone advise on how accurate the computers are?
Reset the average mpg when it was reading 49.7 and it is now showing 66.6.

For more acurate readings it'd be better to just reset your trip counter and put a set amount of fuel in. But to be fair on the computer they are fairly up and down until you rack up some miles :)

I think mines about +/- 10%

Brim the tank, do your driving, then measure how many litres went back in, hey presto you can work out your exact miles to the gallon.

Never done that... because I'd prob just cry if i did!

I find my 'average' figure to be a little optimistic. With my porous intercooler (getting sorted next week) I'm seeing about 41mpg on the trip computer (over 2 tank runs). I'm actually getting about 38mpg calculated from litres in vs miles between fills.

Brim'd the tank yesterday - £96.00 ouch that hurt. I will let you know what sort of return I get.

Maybe I'm not trying hard enough, or maybe I'm too chicken with the fuel light, but I only ever get £80 in most fills, £85 at worst!

I placed all my faith in the miles to empty display - but still chickened out with 80 to go. Gauge was only half way through the red.

The £96 was 70 litres and the nozzle removed four times to cram it in.!!

Left for work this morning with Ave reading 63.5 but up to the 66.6 when I got to work 26 miles later.

Driving at 55ish on cruise the instantaneous is regularly above 70.

Done 41 miles since the fill and the miles to empty is reading 1030 miles.

Have to say I don't believe it.

I used to get 800 miles to a tank in my V70 2.0D that was averaging around 47mpg with a 70 litre tank so personally I can believe it.

66mpg does seem very high for a phase 2 D5 though.

Filled the tank again today. Another ninety something quid and seventy one litres.

Trip computer says an average of 60.2 mpg. The litres/miles calculates at 48.3 mpg. LOL. Blinking computers....

Careful when you do that, the fuel pumps are set up to syphon fuel back into the filling station's tanks when you fill to the top. So you tend to lose some fuel rather than it going into your tank.

I read that the other day and I can't remember where!
