I'm trying to make a educated guess at what bhp my Volvo is at.

It's very very close to my friends Seat Leon Cupra 240bhp. 0-60 he is quicker, but 60+ the Volvo starts to pull it back.

His Cupra is 240bhp, But i dont know wether its at the wheels or crank?

My 855 t5 manual is runing a hlm304 ecu, mbc set to 16 psi. with a 15g turbo.

So is my 850 runing around 240 bhp at the wheels or crank? the Volvo is 100 kgs heavier.

At the HLM Dyno day last year there were around three 850's with HLM304's dyno'd.

If I remember correctly the average wheel horsepower was 235 and crank 252.

You have to remember with these T5's they are very torquey cars too.

the Cupra bhp (as with all manufactures) will be @crank as its the higher figure, they would of used an engine dyno tho to get that figures & not just worked out the transmission losses. As we have to with a rolling road so best to use wheel bhp if you intend to use a rolling road for comparison between mods

cupra has a narrower box so will be pretty quick to about 70ish when that starts to matter less.

it's very hard to tell on the open road - unless someone has more than 50bhp more or less than you, you won't see a vast difference at sane speeds.

Torque does make a difference too ... our cars tend to be torquier than most other petrols.
