View Full Version : Trip to Brand's Hatch

Spent a very nice day up at Brand's Hatch yesterday for the BARC Club Championship. Only £26 for two adults - kids go free - which was really good value for a day's entertainment. Not crowded at all, and free access to the paddock. Kids were well chuffed when Amanda Black invited them to have a sit in the driver's seat of her Caterham - which she later drove hard until having got up into 3rd, collided at Druids with a sideways competitor. Ho hum.
Was a nice friendly meet, all in all.
Great battle in the classic BTCC between Rover SD1 and Mk1 Capri too.

Should get a VPCUK representation at one of these events - there was a nice Essex/Kent Classic Forum stand there.

If I can be there I will! And at £10 (in advance) a ticket and free kids admission, has to be a bargain. Would be good to see the flying tank.

Pmsl! That just about sums up that weekend!

Hopefully with few mods being done over the next 2 weeks, I should be able to slipstream the crane and pass into paddock hill! Lol

I am planning on booking some tickets for Sunday 5th June. Will come and cheer you on. If anyone else wants to come down to see Johnny we could have a mini-meet - advance booking is only £10 per adult.

Bloody hell that's a cheap day out. lots to do and see.

It's not on the same scale, but I just seen a local company offering a ferry trip from Weston to Flat Holm Island in the Bristol Channel. Where you can walk around and get crapped on by the gull population. They want £25 a head and £16 for kids plus a £5.50 a head landing fee. Just imagine 6 hours of dodging gulls and getting bored, watching paint dry would be more interesting.

Give me a day at Brands or Long Marston anytime.

By the way that is a very tasty looking 850 you have there sir, drool :)

44 starters is ambitious - there were 26 M3 there the other week and that was crowded. Still, it is a popular lottery number ;-)

With that crowd it is less of a race and more of demolition derby!

Not busy at all.
Only 2 people in front at the pit burger stand when we had lunch at 12.40.
Open access to all areas.
No charge for my 13 year old son.
Very pleasant.
Enjoy the GT's tomorrow....
What no Volvos though...LOL

JT
Sunday 5th June 2011, 10:10
plenty of photo opportunities, they cant all be of the volovov! lol

did you get to see the pile up into paddock hill in race 1?
a lot of very sad faces in the paddock afterwards.....

Blackdog
Sunday 5th June 2011, 10:28
Bet there was some sad faces.

Saw it from the wrong end of the pit straight.

We were stood oposite you on the grid at the start.

Paddock was more like the M25 in the rush hour. No actually the cars move more on the M25. LOL

Now who was it who said the 44 car start might be a candidate for a demolition derby.

BTW I was the guy who asked if I could post some pics.

The photo I did miss was the flames out of the exhaust in the first race as you entered the start finish straight.

We did try to come and see you again before we left for the day but when we got there the car was there but no one to be seen.

Sunday 5th June 2011, 12:10

well, it was good to see you.

maybe next time we could have a bit more of chat

Just back from a VERY wet Brands Hatch. Wish I'd gone Saturday. When you next racing there? Will plan a bit better next time.

I would love to see a VPCUK mini meet or even display at BH.

the weather has been nasty today, compared with yesterday.

as far as racing there next, there is nothing on the calendar, but I did hear a rumour we might be supporting the DTM. I'll keep you upto date, but I would fear the entry price might be a bit different.

also usually, they do a end of year meet there where they run a handicap system, so the guys at the back get a chance to run out front, but again nothing confirmed yet.

would be cool to see a line of volvos on the bank on the exit of clearways! lol
I was thinking about putting a bigger "www.vpcuk.org" decal on the car,but I would have to ask Justin I suppose??

check out the videos from yesterday on the other thread " johnnytempest's 850"
