key fob issues

I did not have a key fob on my 850 but I got one from a scraped volvo the one with 2 buttons and I do the 5 x in 10 seconds the led starts flashing on the dash. I blip the fob and the led goes out but the fob does not lock the doors or unlock them afterwards what do I do.

did you defo close the door/s? and theres 2 frequencys if i remember correctly, so not sure how far the wrong one gets you!

bonnet and boot also has to be closed what year is your and what fob have you?

I will try again making sure everything is closed. The fob its got two buttons with Volvo written underneath. m reg i think

How are the buttons arranged?

Side by side or 1 big square, and a small line underneath?

side by side and the car is a 97, not a 94

Mines a 96' and has the other type fob.

Hi have x2 spare fobs if you want them I brought them a couple weeks ago off here from other member, but I'd already ordered x2 from Volvo, pm me if you want them
