Hi all after sorting things with the MAF sensor I now have no fault codes showing. But still burning fuel! I mean loads of fuel! Up to 30 mph no matter how slow I get there I'm doing between 5-9 mpg! I've changed the oil, leads, plugs, cap, rotor arm and the MAF sensor. Still running lumping and smoking black on idle sometimes before settling down again. I have no idea what this could be please please please help! I've done £100 petrol this week and haven't even gone no where Naybe done 30 miles!

Have you tried a different ecu? If the remapped one was removed for the sale, an incorrect one could have been put in instead.

I dont know what I'm talking about but wouldn't be better to seek legal advice on where you stand on getting a refund for the car than investing time in it?

the car ran fine for a week now having problems, the problem i have is i like the car and have already invested about £400 on it! i know ive been had over but surely i cant be far from getting this car running properly? i was thinking the ecu is faulty? what about lambda? but i know there are no fault codes but the lambda might be misreading and altering the air/fuel mixture rougher than the ecu picking it up as a thought?

Get your self a new water temp sensor, it might be thinking the engine is still cold... just a thouht...

Check the down pipe, the flexi can break and allow air to be drawn in, this weakends the mix before it gets to the 02 sensor, as a result the ecu thinks the car is running weak and ends up over fueling it.

Remove the vac line from the fuel pressure regulator and see if any fuel comes out of the nipple the vac line attaches to. If so the fuel regulator is no good and will need replacing. Do this test when the car is running at idle.

Will try these in the morning! Cheers, I've just unplugged the lambda sensor and nothing happened? No dash lights, no difference in running or mpg, could this mean lambda or ecu problem?

You will often get no MIL with a faulty Lambda. The Lambda only controls fueling at constant RPM (idling, cruising etc), often the vehicle will run poorly at cruising speeds but will clear and run well when booted only to run poor again when cruising again if the Lambda is dead and overfueling.
