I have a problem that I now think could be tyre related, its a fluttering noise that comes from the front when accelerating which at first I thought was coming from the engine. The tyres are these monkeys Tyres (http://www.maxxis.com/AutomobileLight-Truck/High-Performance/MA-Z1-Victra.aspx). I have sped up and put her in neutral and the noise is still there so I dont think its the engine as she doesnt do it on idle.

So could it just be that these tyres are rather noisy? I am also thinking the alloys might be 'out of shape' so to speak which causes the fluttering. Would I be right there?

Cheers.

If the wheels where out of shape you would have some serious vibration in the car, through the seat for the rear and through the steering wheel from the front.

I know nowt about that tyre brand so cant comment on them however they are uni directional, which i think means they only run one way round, check to ensure that the tyre is on the car in the correct rotational direction.

Other than that.. maybe a twisted tread, wheel bearing or slightly binding brake ?

I was wondering about them being on the right way, will check tonight. Other thought was binding brake although she brakes in a straight line and no pull if that would show anything. Vibration wise is what you would expect from an 11 year old, certainly nothing that would cause me concern.

Bingo, arrow on tyre points towards the back of the car.
