I always use Back to black...always been good, what i normally do is spray it all over and leave for 30 mins then give it a light wipe over...
But a mate of mine who had black trims that had gone badly grey, saw somewhere to use Peanut butter ( smooth obviously) so he treid it and it worked brilliantly...he said took a bit of work but when i saw his van they looked new...think it was off something like Wheeler dealers and was an old car dealer trick...something to do with the oil in peanut butter.. never treid it myself but he did and was really impressed...it does work

I use Wurth plastic dye and wouldn't use anything else. Pricey but works, 12 to 18 months and then needs refreshing.

Salut!

Just a note to say that R have a deep grey NOT black trim on them. But the Wurth stuff seems to get good reviews and that does come in grey too.

This is what they should look like (look on my signature to see what the bumper looks like a bit too dark:

Ive heard this being done alot now, but my theory "probably wrong" is that by doing this it will only do damage long term, if you keep drawing the oils from the plastics will it not dry them out? And maybe even damage the plastics?

I thought the dulling of the plastic trim was due to the depolymerisation of the chains in the plastic near the surface due to UV exposure? I wasn't aware of any oils?

Hasnt plastic got oils of some sort in it, to stop it becoming brittle?

Black liquid shoe polish with applicator sponge gives good results after 2-3 coats, lasts for quite a while and costs under a pound from most supermarkets.

I tried the peanut butter in April, will probably need doing again soon though as the trim is looking faded! I was thinking about just painting them to match the body colour. I do like the idea of the groundnut oil though!

I have used both of these and they're great for tyres and black trim (better than the usual suspects at Halfords anyway):

I promise, Give it a try, use some latex gloves, put a little dont need a lot on a rag then wipe over the Black trim.

Afterwards wipe off with a clean rag any excess, it really last for ages, and also belive it or not \helps if you hit/rub against anything she just slides off.

Saved my wifes audi when she hit a Merc.
