Im putting my standardish V50 T5 on the rollers she is stock apart from a K & N replacement filter she has done 119k. Standard power should be from the factory 220 BHP

To give you an idea on the rollers I put on an early V70 T5 P2 with 150k and autologic map and she put out 268 BHP 6146 rpm 189 WHP, she ran a 15.0 at 96 mph IRRC which isnt a bad time for a lardy P2!

I know of a V70 D5 baggin 202 BHP on these rollers with an autologic map too!

Guess away all will be reveiled by tomorow morning maybe sooner!

My guess is approx 180whp. (+/- 10 bhp)

Mines 228bhp WHP albeit the rollers can make a big difference - running the 1/4 at 99.8mph (with a very poor start)

I've seen other plots and the S40/V50 usually comes out around 170bhp @ the wheels as standard.

:((((( Got it back and im sure & I hope they havent done it well & warm weathers not helping! The dyno plot doesnt start till over 1500 rpm and the torque peak starts on these engines is from 1500 rpm so it would have been better to start from 1000 rpm.

Anyway Im sure the dyno cant be right but Im going to stick it with as its close to home and will do the job in terms of percentage gains. 169 BHP Flywheel 122 whp at 5379 rpm the torque on the dyno is peaking at 215 and is over 200 between between 2400 and 3600 rpm. This in itself is nothing like how the car behaves on the road and isnt truely representative in terms of torque but it never was my last dyno run on these rollers so I didnt mention it before.

The dyno opp seemed to think something could be wrong and I should look for something else to be wrong before remap, but DPA does not agree we did a stage o, if there was something that wrong with my car there would be fault codes all over the place and it would be running like a dog which she isnt she is really nippy from 1500 rpm and the dyno does not show that at all!
For the record I drove a brand new focus ST and couldnt see there was that much difference between mine and that, I guess a 1/4 mile event will give me a better idea.

another dissapointed dyno customer, do a 0-60 check, always avon next weekend

0-60 Volvo claimed is 6.9 secs but autocar and other mags claimed 7.5 secs. Im sure I can match or beat this! I need a willing passanger and a stop watch!

what was the IAT pressure? Mine was high even with the bell intercoolers... I don't think these cars like Dynos very much unless the air flow is excellent

Its only an old sun dyno I think its quite basic it only gives the garages name and number my car reg Fly wheel and wheel power BHP and torque which it doesnt even say LBFT but I assume it is and RPM.
I wasnt there when they ran it but I didnt see any big fans. Ive found an old stop watch and will be testing later this evening when I give the baby sitter a lift home lol!

Right I have tested the 0-60 with a passanger on an an empty safe private road and me shouting now when hitting 61 mph and I have recorded 8.2 secs with TC and 8.4 secs without with a mate and few bits of crap onboard. Autocar did a 8.4 in a C70 T5 SE in 06 which Weighs roughly the same as my v50 and has 217 bhp 236 lbft and is more aerodynamic so maybe she is about right, I might test 30-70 and 50-70 next I cant be bothered to try the 146 mph quoted slow top speed!

30-70 will be a better measure - esp as it takes out the traction issues.

Get a GPS sat nav, so you know the speed correction, I videoed my speedo that means you can play it back and count carefully.

30-70 is 5.4 on mine with all the mods :) good luck with your tests!

PS.... terminal top speed on the 1/4 is probably the easiest way to assess your real world power output.

Just done a 30-50 in 3rd and recorded 4.09 secs Test Drive recorded 4.0 secs for a lighter S40 T5 in 2004 so Im not so concerned now I dont think I can be that down on power. Will do some more tests later though!

Sounds like a bad dyno run... can happen esp with High compression Turbo cars ... due to being sensitive to Air Intake Temperatures and poor air flow.

My 50-70 was bang on 4.5 (IIRC the manufacturers figure) in 3rd stock.

Also try 50-70 in top... as this is a longer increment any timing errors will be less significant.

When are you going to get that bad boy modded ? :)

Awaiting a new tune being written by autologic fingers crossed and 3rd time lucky maybe tomorow or monday! If the new map isnt any good I will give in on Autologic and get her booked in at HLM, which I will at least get some proper dyno figures and try there new Auto tech out I might go for a few other bits while im at it so it could be expensive!

Have done 50-70 in 6th and its 9.8 so slightly quicker than Autocars C70 at 10 dead, more testing later when I get a moment

I wouldn't sweat the dyno... mine is way quicker than the WHP on the dyno may suggest.

Could keep up with a 400bhp supercharged MGZT V8 on the pistonheads run... (much to his annoyance!)

you hear all kinds of rubbish about dynos on the forums - stick with your increment timings and terminal speed on the 1/4 mile run :)

From what I've read... MAHA dynos are the best, and probably the only dyno that's reliable for an absolute crank output (rather than a comparative before and after run)

Ive been out again-

50-70 in 5th 7.59 secs Test drive S40 T5 new 7.7 secs

30-50 in 4th 5.3 secs " " " " " 5.7 secs

So defo nothing wrong with my Torque figures as standard!
