Standard 16T ...... but, if it's as simple as the link, should just bolt straight in .... unsure as yet ...... have to think ...... but £340 delivered for a brand new 19T appeals .......

How much is it to recon it? Suppose it depends on what needs replacing etc

I had a 19 for some years. They are a very capable turbo.

Worth it? Better than a 15G or 16T? If unnoticable then may give it a miss...

very different to a 15g. When i first got my 19t fitted tbh i was disappointed it was very laggy, it gave you a good chunk of power straight away but just kept building up & up with the revs unlike the 15g which gave all it can instantly. Since i've fitted the improved RIP kit & enlarged throttle body luckily i can say it has got as good as the 15g was

hmm......what i want is quick spool up and awesome power from 2,000rpm up to 7,000rpm ....... I have a 16T (aint tried it yet as not picked the car up yet - Lance is patient :) )

I'd rate them - takes the bottom end of the power range in RPM up a little - maybe 3000 but with the right map will carry right through to what ever red line you set. I make 305bhp (crank) & only use 0.9 bar.

I will try & find the plot for you, as of last year at HLM's charidy RR day.

the RIP & throttle body have got it so it spools faster than the 15g now, but yours being an auto means you can't fit the 3" pipes & some people don't like the larger throttle body saying it makes the accelerator too sensitive/jerky

The 19T is a better turbo than the 16T. Ive quoted below from my expierience.
15G 2000 rpm -5000 rpm is strong particularly at the lower revs but a little flat higher up as standard
16T 2400 rpm-5500 rpm very good between 3000-5500 a remap gives a bit more low down but you still get the most between 2400 and 5500 rpm. Feels more linier more reffined but less low down than 15g so can feel slower off the mark but quicker once rolling.
19T 2700 rpm-6500 rpm mind blowing quick from say 45 -100 mph in 3rd, equally mind blowing 90-130+ in 5th
I went from a 16T to a 19T and my power went from 230 WHP (266 BHP) to 280 WHP (322BHP) You will need a good map to get the best out of it mine was developing standard T5 power at just 3000 rpm (over 200 WHP) Below 2500 rpm she drove like a 16T not that quick but behond that she was in a different league!

Here is my graph.

The torque is long & sustained which is great for overtaking. Perhaps not as high a peak as some but bear in mind that this map is still a work in progress - only 0.9 bar.

I couldn't find my 305 read out - so this is the graph prior to the bigger FMIC/injectors going in.

Here is the close up. Solid 350NM all the way to 5.5 - by which time the rpm/ momentum carry it through to the red line. Ask those that have ridden in it - there is no sense of it dying off & it is reflected by the high speed through the line in the quarter mile (102 mph)

Ive never had or driven a car with an 18T just 15g 16T and 19T sorry but I guess its between a 16T and a 19T in characteristics

I wounder how the 18t compaires to the 19t weather the 18t also gives to better low down power as well as top end power

having had a 15g a 16t and an 18t soon a 19t, i can say that the 15 was nowhere near as good as the 16 but i can say that there is not much difference between the 16 and 18 when standard

lance
Monday 28th February 2011, 16:38
19T is a lot better than a 16T but I think the 15g makes a better drag racer than a 16T. I wonder if anyone has done a twin turbo/ twin schroll like on the latest D5s that could be interesting. 12 or 13G then a 19T!

I can say how quick daves car is. Its such a good power delivery, it just keeps pulling right through the revs (3 people in the car as well). A very quick car.

i bought one had it delivered then found out it was for an auto but still maybe work so put it in and nothing, apparantly the ecu has to be married to the car by a saab specialist with tech2 equpment, so i sold it on i'd rather put the money into my volvo hence my new 19t

it depends how much boost you want to run mate the 18t will make the car go very well and keep the torque in because of the small exhaust housing.the 19t has a larger exhaust housing for a 3in downpipe less torque .but if you use your exhaust housing with the 19t compressor you might keep the torque low down the rev range

2.3 seconds last season. With the quaife/sachs clutch upgrade it will be much better this season.
