Hello all,
I would like a little help with how much my “N” reg Volvo T5R green saloon is worth.
I realise that without seeing the actual car it is near impossible but a ball park high and low figure is what I am really after. The car has no mods at all.

Lets say the car is average condition body work wise with the normal shopping car park wee dents and scrapes left by there by Mr nobody. Every bumper corner has some light scrapes on them. The car has never been resprayed at all. Every thing works as it should electrics wise except one of the headlight wiper motors looks chuffed.
The interior is spot on with little to no wear at all.
65k miles with FSH mainly done at the dealership
Wheels are in crap condition but smithness has sorted me out with a nice shinny set.

I can hear you all shouting out for some pictures and I will do my best to get some up soon but its dark by the time I get home and the flash seems to be broken on my phone camera.

I have got insurance set up ready to go for the 1st of march and told them it was worth £2000. Am I waaaaay off on that?

Don’t be scared to say what you think it may be worth, I will not be offended with any guestimate on the worth of the car.

Cheers
Russell

Hi Russell, The big question is auto or manual. The mileage is low and that is good (although makes it all a bit difficult to guess). History looks good - will need a recent timing belt service though. Saloon goes against the value. Damage is difficult to assess without seeing the car.
If it is a manual saloon, I would say £2k is a reasonable assessment given the low mileage and history (if it is a good one). If it is an auto, probably about £1700. It is almost impossible to say without seeing it though - but one thing is for sure, if the right buyer comes along, you could get a lot more. And if you sell in December, a lot less! If I was you, I would be getting it spruced up a bit - and not racking the mileage up too much. It will be a little while until T5R become collector's cars (but I think they will) - but it will be the lower mileage full history one's that will retain if not accrue value. But I do not anticipate they will ever go stratospheric - sadly! But look at P1800 and Amazon from the 1960s and these are doing OK.
I am old enough to remember Chrysler Sunbeams when they were new, also when they were worth jack £££££ - and now, a really decent one will have an asking price in the £7-8000 range. Don't get it myself - but there is no accounting for taste.

Wish I had kept my 37,000 mile 1967 Hillman Imp I bought for £300 in 1989. Lovely example and rare as you like today.

Hello Mate, have a look on Ebay at good ones ( which recenly seen a very nice one go for £1600) and maybe not so good ( seen as low as £900) but just use it as a guide as next week you could see one gor for £2000 and one for £800 but if you keep a few in your watch list it will give you a guide, also look on autotrader, exchange and mart etc and see what they go for on here ( seen them up to £2400) also look in the owners clubs for sale section, which is really good because you can see people who have put up for sale and what responses they get and how quick they sell to enthusiasts...i know it seems a lot but by cross refrencing and sort of working out an avereage gives you an idea what they go for because what they are worth and what people willing to pay can be to different things...I also agree with phil for valuations, and time of year can make a difference.. its all down to how desperate you are to get rid of...

Thanks for the info flatout phil. Its an autobox, my brother in law searched for ages to find the two manual T5s that he had. Timing belt and tensioner were done just last year....boost :)
I used to have a Talbot sunbeam, still had all the plastic covering the door cards, rear seats and other bits n bobs but it died on the very first day I got it, it did not like the farmers track at all but thats another story. Cant believe they are worth that much now. I do love old motors, my first job was restoring, repairing and servicing them.

Cheers kee1173, I have had a look for other ones to guage the price but had no luck at the times I tried. Defo not getting rid though tiz mine I tell you mine , all mine:)

Here are some pics for you all

15 years of baked on brake dust has taken its toll on both the front alloys.

Looking at pics, well it needs a damn good valet, and the alloys need something! But looks essentially sound. So I stand by my auto price above - providing it is tarted up.

Ha ha cheers guys. you are not wrong about the motor needing a really good clean and polish. I now have another set of Titans to replace the scabby set shown in the photo so thats one job off the list.

Volvokid, cheers for the offer of a sproos up:B_thumb: after seeing some of the other motors that you have done I am very tempted but also to ashamed to let you see a car that has more growth on it than Ron Jeremy!
I will have the volvo on the road from the 1st of March and not long after that we are expecting our first child. Once things calm down a little a drive out to the Broch sounds like not a bad plan, cheers.

I would easily clean up your car for you and prep it for a polish, thats a full days work anyway. And I can show you how to polish it but I wont do that part as it takes days and i just get stressed out doing other peoples motors.

More than happy for you to come round
