Hello there,
I wonder if any body can shed some light on a problem thats just started with my t5. The box was really smooth up until a couple of days ago when i noticed the change from 2nd to 3rd was notchy, felt like it jumps into 3rd slightly rather than the really smooth change it used to be.You can only slightly notice it at the moment but am wondering if it will get worse. All other gear changers through the gears are fine. Ive got a horrible gut feeling my wallet is going to be a lot thinner before this problem is sorted. Anybody got any idea. CHEERS ALL !!

From what I've read... a full flush and new fluid is the place to start :)

We need an expert to comment on this though.

I will try it first. If that doesn't work it's off to a gearbox specialist. I'll let you know what happens. CHEERS !!!!!!

When i was looking at an s60t5 auto, i'm sure someone said something about a software update (from volvo) for the gearbox. You may want to have a look into this before you go to a specialist. I'm just sorry i can't remember anymore.

Several things can cause this, most of them not major.

Check to see if its had the gearbox software update done, if not I think its about £25.

If it has then have the gearbox oil flushed and refilled and the ECU told that it has new oil, thats a bit more expensive as the gearbox oil is dear, your probably into £200 for that one.

If the problem persists ( which I doubt it will ) then it maybe a more serious gearbox fault.

I will go down the software road first before i do anything else. I'll keep you all informed on how it goes . Thanks to you all for your advice. Great site by the way !!!!

We don't always reply at first, due to the amount of daily posts there are and people can sometimes miss things. But usually someone will come along with some ideas.
