Hi wondering if someone could explain something for me. I have an 850 T5R. Ive been looking though old paper work etc. and all the service docs and the original Service book (PDI) etc, refer to it as an 854 T5-R.

what does that mean? Where they all called 854's?

Thanks in advance!

The last number refers to the number of doors,
854 is saloon
855 estate

This goes back a long way with Volvo, at least to the 140 series; 144 was the saloon, 145 the estate, but they were never badged '140'. I think the 850 was only ever badged '850', but the trade (& some owners) called them 854 & 855. The confusion seems to have ended with the introduction of the V70 & S70. I've just remembered, the Amazon followed a similar (but not the same) system; the 121 was 2 door, the 122 was 4 door & I guess the 123 was the estate.
Cheers, Chris.
